Effect of pectin substances on contractile activity of the uterine myometrium in rats.

We studied the effects of peptides from Amaranthus cruentus L., Rauwolfia serpentina Benth., and citrus plants on contractile activity of the uterine myometrium in rats.

[The joint use of prednisolone and phospholipid-containing hepatoprotectors in experimental chronic hepatitis].

In chronic CCl4-hepatitis in rats phospholipid-containing hepatoprotectors, essentiale and eplir differ in their influence on the therapeutic effect of prednisolone; essentiale does not change the antiproliferative effect of the glucocorticoid and weakens its membrane-stabilizing effect, eplir increases these therapeutic effects of prednisolone. Besides, eplir, in distinction from essentiale, reduces lipid accumulation in the liver and hypoproteinemia which are induced by prednisolone.

[Study of phospholipid synthesis in liver of mice with alloxan diabetes].

The essential decrease of the rate of turnover of phosphatidic acids (PA), polyglycerophosphates (PGP) and their lysoderivatives (LPGP), sphinigomyelin (SM) and lysophosphatidylcholine (LPC), phosphatidyletnanolamine (PEA) was found in male mice of BALB/c strain with subacute alloxan diabetes (glucose concentration in the blood was not less than 14 mmol/l) during examination of phospholipid metabolism in the liver by the rate of 3H-acetate and 14C-palmitate incorporation into corresponding chromatographic phospholipid fractions. On the contrary, turnover of phosphatidilcholine (PC) significantly increased. The of main structural phospholipid components of hepatocyte cellular membranes--PEA and PC--were found to be decreased by 41 and 32%, respectively.

Isolation and characterization of biological properties of inhibitors angiotensin-1-converting enzyme from the spider venom Latrodectus tredecimguttatus.

For the first time by method of gel-filtration and ionexchange chromatography two bradykinin-potentiating peptides have been isolated in homogeneous state from Latrodectus tredecimguttatus spider venom. The homogeneity was proved by disk-electrophoresis, isoelectrical focusing, analysis of aminoacid content and rechromatography. Peptides are acid proteins with molecular mass 10,000 and 2500 D.

[Structural phospholipids and the lipid peroxidation processes after the action of a platinum preparation].

In the initial period after a single toxic administration of cis-dichlordihydrooxyamine platinum in the rat liver there was found an increase of the contents of total phospholipids (PL) at the expense of the change in the contents of lysofractions as well as phosphatidylcholine (PC), polyglycerophosphates (PGP) and phosphatide acids. There was observed suppression of the antiradical activity leading to intensification of lipid peroxidation (LPO) processes. In the later periods of the experiment the decrease of phospholipid contents is determined by a reduction of the levels of phosphoinosites, sphyngomyelin, PGP.
