Treatment with diclofenac appears to be more effective compared to other NSAIDs in the treatment of osteoarthritis of the large joints. Opioids do not diminish significantly the pain in chronic lower back pain. Degenerative tears of the meniscus, without signs of osteoarthritis, should be treated conservatively.
