Aim: Wilson's disease (WD) is a rare autosomal recessive disease, that can involve any organ of the body, the main ones being the liver and the brain. These patients can have varied presentations, ranging from having no symptoms to having neurological manifestations to features of chronic liver disease (CLD). Those patients that end up having CLD are prognosticated the Child-Turcotte-Pugh (CTP) score and the Model for End-stage Liver Disease (MELD) score.

Multiple factors are said to precipitate ST, related to the patient's clinical comorbidities, lesion characteristics, operative technique, and post-procedural care. The older-generation stents were thought to be involved in early ST.

Thus, the treatment of leachate concentrates would consume high energy or a large amount of chemicals. The present study is to develop an effective treatment method by using coupled electrochemical methods with the least possible energy consumption.

To further enhance EO coupled in situ electro-peroxone, a nickel and antimony doped tin oxide anodic catalyst layer, namely NATO, was fabricated on Ti mesh to improve anodic oxidation and reinforce the generation of O, thus promoting in situ Electro-peroxone. As a result, O generation rate was enhanced by 12.

A young girl presented to us with recurrent diarrhea along with a history of 5 kg weight loss in one year. On examination, she appeared pale, while her laboratory reports showed a low hemoglobin, mean corpuscular volume (MCV) and serum albumin. Her erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) was slightly raised with her iron profile suggestive of iron deficiency anemia.

Esophageal involvement by mycobacterium tuberculosis is a rare entity even in the endemic regions. The common presenting complaint in esophageal tuberculosis are deglutition disorders in which patients primarily present with difficulty in swallowing. The most common site of esophageal involvement is the middle-third at the level of carina.

Antibacterial potential against Bacillus subtilis and Escherichia coli, and antifungal activities against Candida parapsilosis and Aspergilus niger were investigated by the Disc diffusion method. The advanced techniques including Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Thermo-gravimeteric Analysis (TGA), Atomic forced microscopy (AFM) and Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) were used for the characterization of Zn-d-SiO NPs.

In children, the disorder often presents at around 10 years of age. It persists in about 40% of children and adolescents at mean follow-up of 5.

Methods: The prospective observational study based on non-probability convenient sampling was conducted at the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT), Karachi, and comprised Budd Chiari Syndrome patients between January 2004 and December 2013. The patients were evaluated for onset of symptoms, causes, mode of presentation and predictors of survival.
Objective: To evaluate the clinical presentation, possible etiological factors, management and outcome of patients in our hospital with extrahepatic portal vein obstruction (EHPVO).
Materials And Methods: This study included patients with EHPVO followed up in our department during last 10 years. Patients of cirrhosis with EHPVO were excluded.

Background: There are limited data on hepatitis D in children. The aim of this study was to assess the clinical presentation of hepatitis D virus (HDV) infection in Pakistani children.
Materials And Methods: All pediatric patients (age≤18 years) seen in the clinic with chronic HDV infection and detectable HDV RNA (n=48) were compared with consecutive hepatitis B virus (HBV) monoinfection patients (n=48).
Background: Human leukocyte antigen (HLA) typing in autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) has been investigated in different populations and ethnic groups, but no such data is available from Pakistan.
Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical profile of autoimmune hepatitis (AIH), and determine the associated antigens and alleles by performing HLA typing.
Patients And Methods: A total of 58 patients, diagnosed and treated as AIH in the last 10 years were reviewed.
Introduction: Obsessions or compulsions that cause personal distress or social dysfunction affect about 1% of adult men and 1.5% of adult women. About half of adults with obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) have an episodic course, whereas the other half have continuous problems.

Infants diagnosed to have EHBA were tested by blood PCR for cytomegalovirus (CMV), Ebstein-Barr virus, HBsAg, anti-HCV and IgM antibodies for CMV, toxoplasma, rubella, and herpes infections. Thirty-three infants of EHBA were included in the study, male 22, median age when diagnosed 2.

Background: Obsessive compulsive disorder is a common and disabling disorder. A significant proportion of patients manifest a chronic course. Individual randomised controlled trials (RCTs) have shown that selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors (SSRIs) are effective in this condition.

Three cases of PFIC are described that were diagnosed on the basis of family history, pruritus, cirrhosis and / or paucity of interlobular bile ducts on liver biopsy and presence of extrahepatic biliary tree on imaging. These patients were initially labeled as suffering from extra-hepatic biliary atresia and neonatal hepatitis.

The present study examined design features of observational studies that could have influenced these comparisons.
Methods: To find at least 4 observational studies that evaluated the same treatment, we reviewed meta-analyses comparing observational studies and randomized controlled trials for the assessment of medical treatments.
