Effect of fentanyl on nausea and vomiting in cesarean section under spinal anesthesia: a randomized controlled study.

Objective: Although opioids may induce nausea and vomiting, they possess sedative effects and can reduce intraoperative nausea and vomiting (IONV). This study assessed the effect of adding fentanyl to midazolam on sedation levels and IONV during cesarean section under spinal anesthesia.

Methods: Eighty parturients scheduled for elective cesarean section were enrolled in the study.

Background: Although the loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP) is a brief procedure, it can cause severe pain and discomfort to patients in the absence of adequate sedation. An admixture of ketamine with propofol (ketofol), may reduce patient movement due to insufficient sedation while providing hemodynamic and respiratory stability. This study evaluated the ability of two ratios of a propofol-ketamine combination, compared with propofol alone, to reduce patient movement during procedural sedation for LEEPs.

Background: Supraglottic airway (SGA) device with non-inflatable cuff reduce the airway complications associated with cuff hyperinflation. The aim of the study is to determine whether the default setting of Supreme is as effective as the non-inflatable cuff devices. The oropharyngeal leak pressure was measured and compared between the Supreme and Air-Q, a typical non-inflatable cuff device.
