Presentation and publication rates among women and men at AAO-HNS meetings.

Objective: We attempted to assess the percentages of abstracts submitted to annual American Academy of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery (AAO-HNS) meetings from 2000 to 2004 by both women and men. We sought to determine the subsequent peer-reviewed overall publication rates for all submissions. We also studied trends of submission among female presenters and compared them to males.

Eosinophilic granuloma manifesting as painless cervical lymphadenopathy in a patient positive for human immunodeficiency virus 1.

Eosinophilic granuloma is rarely reported within lymph nodes. Furthermore, it is even more rarely reported in the setting of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. No definitive etiologic association exists between Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) and HIV.

Gustatory impairment in patients undergoing head and neck irradiation.

Objectives: To determine whether radiation alters taste function and structure.

Research Design: Prospective, longitudinal study.

Methodology: Testing prior to starting radiation, and 2 weeks, 2 months, and 6 months after completing radiation.
