Hyperhidrosis is thought to result from excessive stimulation of sweat glands due to increased sympathetic activity; however, data on systemic responses following bilateral thoracic sympathectomy as the definitive treatment have not yet been sufficiently evaluated. This study, designed as a prospective cohort investigation, included 24 patients who underwent sympathectomy for palmar and axillary hyperhidrosis at our center in 2023, along with an age-matched control group of equal size. In the sympathectomy group, pupillometry measurements were performed 1 day before surgery and on the 7th postoperative day, while the control group underwent measurements at corresponding intervals.

Background: Infertility and organ loss are possible outcomes of testicular torsion, a urological emergency. This study aimed to demonstrate the impact of lupeol on testicular ischemia/reperfusion damage.
Methods: Thirty adult male Spraque-Dawley rats were randomized into five groups: Control (C), Lupeol (L), Ischemia (Isc), Treatment 1 (T1), and Treatment 2 (T2).

The objective of this study was to report the initial experiences of seven surgeons using a titanium macular buckle (TMB) for the treatment of myopic maculopathy. The records of 11 cases that underwent TMB placement, with or without concomitant vitrectomy, were reviewed. Collected data included demographics, type of maculopathy, pre-operative and postoperative ophthalmic findings.

If necessary, the blood flow should be restored, including re-anastomosis by removing the intestines with impaired circulation. In this process, anastomotic strength is as important as inflammatory responses and oxidative stress.

Study Objective: To report a rare case of urethral duplication (UD) in a 5-year-9-month-old girl and describe the surgical approach and outcomes.
Methods: A 5-year-9-month-old girl presented with postvoid dribbling and clitoral swelling. Physical examination and imaging were performed.
Purpose: To investigate the effect of vitreomacular traction (VMT) on vitreous vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and placental growth factor (PlGF) levels in patients with active neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD).
Design: A prospective, interventional, case-control study.
Methods: The study included a total of 70 patients from whom vitreous samples were obtained.

Background/aim: This study assessed the impact of intraoperative microvascular Doppler ultrasonography (MDU) during microsurgical subinguinal varicocele correction in children.
Materials And Methods: Nineteen patients who underwent intraoperative MDU during subinguinal microsurgical varicocelectomy between 2021 and 2023 were included in this study. Each patient's age, varicocele side, clinical examination findings, preoperative ultrasonography results, intraoperative findings, spermatic artery counts and findings in terms of MDU use, postoperative complications, and results were evaluated.
Unlabelled: In this study, we aimed to investigate the levels of Fibroblast Growth Factor-8 (FGF-8), FGF-10, FGF-Receptor-2 (FGFR-2), Androgen receptor (AR), Estrogen receptor alpha and beta (ER-α and ER-β) in the foreskins of children with and without hypospadias.
Methods: Samples from the foreskins of 20 children with hypospadias and 20 skin samples from children without hypospadias between the ages of 14 months and 12 years were taken during circumcision or hypospadias correction surgery for immunohistochemical (IHC) examination of these markers. In IHC examination, it was shown that ER-α, ER-β and AR receptors were more involved in the foreskin of children with hypospadias than in the fore-skin of without hypospadias children, and FGF-8, FGF-10 and FGFR-2 were lower (p<0.
Background/aims: Gastric outlet obstruction (GOO) is a rare condition in childhood, with the exception of infantile hypertrophic pyloric stenosis (IHPS). However, no classification exists from a pediatric gastroenterologist's perspective.
Materials And Methods: The patients with a diagnosis of GOO between 2009 and 2020 were reviewed retrospectively.
Purpose: This study aimed to determine the forms of ocular and adnexal injuries and to examine the treatment modalities applied after two major earthquakes in Turkey on February 6, 2023.
Methods: Following the earthquakes, the medical records of 34 patients admitted with emergency ophthalmic complaints to Hatay Training and Research Field Hospital and Etlik City Hospital were retrospectively reviewed. Of these patients, 35 eyes of 34 individuals diagnosed with earthquake-related ocular and adnexal injuries were included in the study.
Acute kidney injury (AKI) caused by ischemia and, exogenous or endogenous nephrotoxic agents poses a serious health issue. AKI is seen in 1% of all hospital admissions, 2-5% of hospitalizations and 67% of intensive care unit (ICU) patients. The in-hospital mortality rates for AKI is 40-50, and >50% for ICU patients.

Objective: This study conducted virological investigations of calves showing diarrhea and respiratory and neurological signs.
Methods: An outbreak of diarrhea, respiratory, and neurological disorders occurred among the 12 calves in July 2022 in Istanbul, Türkiye.
We conducted a genome-wide association study (GWAS) in a multiethnic cohort of 920 at-risk infants for retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), a major cause of childhood blindness, identifying 1 locus at genome-wide significance level (p < 5×10) and 9 with significance of p < 5×10 for ROP ≥ stage 3. The most significant locus, rs2058019, reached genome-wide significance within the full multiethnic cohort (p = 4.96×10); Hispanic and European Ancestry infants driving the association.
