Background: Patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) treated with anti-CD20 therapies such as rituximab may have increased risk of severe COVID-19 disease. Vaccination induces protective immunity, but humoral vaccine response is known to be attenuated in rituximab-treated MS-patients-patients, which has indicated a need for real world data on severe morbidity and mortality from COVID-19 after vaccination.

Background: Evaluation of susceptibility to emerging SARS-CoV-2 variants of concern (VOC) requires rapid screening tests for neutralising antibodies which provide protection.

Methods: Firstly, we developed a receptor-binding domain-specific haemagglutination test (HAT) to Wuhan and VOC (alpha, beta, gamma and delta) and compared to pseudotype, microneutralisation and virus neutralisation assays in 835 convalescent sera. N-terminal acetylation is a major and vital protein modification catalyzed by N-terminal acetyltransferases (NATs). Exposure of cells to the diarrhetic shellfish poison, okadaic acid, leads to a dramatic reorganization of cytoskeletal architecture and loss of cell-cell contact. When cells are exposed to high concentrations of okadaic acid (100-500 nM), the morphological rearrangement is followed by apoptotic cell death. Okadaic acid inhibits the broad acting Ser/Thr protein phosphatases 1 and 2A, which results in hyperphosphorylation of a large number of proteins.
