Gallium (Ga) recovery from the red mud, though important has never been successful due to several technical and economic reasons such as contaminant interference and the high cost of membranes due to their faster saturation resulting in the clogging of membranes with contaminants. This study demonstrated the recovery of Ga by a combination of HCl-based leaching, Fe/Al/Ti separation, and recovery of Ga using Cyphos IL 104-based solvent extraction and complexation of Ga with desferrioxamine B as a proof-of-principle of the GaLIophore technology. The main leaching parameters such as concentrations of acids, time and temperature of the reaction, and solid-to-liquid ratio have been systematically investigated.

The high incidence of idiopathic recurrent pregnancy loss (iRPL) may stem from the limited research on male contributory factors. Many studies suggest that sperm DNA fragmentation and oxidative stress contribute to iRPL, but their roles are still debated. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are short non-coding RNAs that regulate various biological processes by modulating gene expression.

In view of the importance of environmental protection and resource recovery, recycling of spent lithium ion batteries (LIBs) is quite necessary. In the present study, lithium and copper are recycled to lithium carbonate and copper oxide from anode electrode material of the spent LIBs. The anode electrode material is firstly treated with hydrochloric acid to leach lithium (96.

This case report presents a primigravida in her 20s with a history of seizure disorder and chronic cholecystitis, who presented at 30 weeks and 6 days of gestation with upper abdominal pain, fever and vomiting. Initially diagnosed with acute calculous cholecystitis, the patient's condition rapidly deteriorated, resulting in fetal demise and the development of severe complications. Subsequent investigations revealed an enlarged fatty liver and signs of acute liver failure.

Recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) is a pervasive health issue affecting a large number of couples globally, which leads to increased emotional and financial strain on the affected families. While female factors have been extensively studied and are well known, the contribution of male factors to RPL remains largely unknown. As high as 40% of RPL cases are unexplained, which are termed as idiopathic RPL (iRPL), necessitating the investigation of male factors.

The treatment and recovery of pollutants in aquatic system is one of the greatest challenges for environmentalists throughout the world. In this study, solvent extraction of indium using phosphonium ionic liquid (Cyphos IL 104) as an extractant and its mathematical model was proposed for prediction of In(III) ion transport across a FSSLM (flat-sheet-supported liquid membrane). Solvent extraction experiments on indium have been carried out under various experimental conditions in order to assert some fundamental parameters using mathematical analysis for mass transfer process.

Article Synopsis
  • The study assessed the impact of COVID-19 on the mental health of healthcare workers (HCWs) by measuring depression, anxiety, and PTSD among 100 participants in India's AIIMS from March to June 2021.
  • The research used questionnaires to collect data, revealing that 17% suffered from depression, 25% from anxiety, 13% from stress, and 2% from PTSD, with nursing staff reporting the highest levels of anxiety and depression.
  • Results showed that unmarried participants experienced significantly higher PTSD scores compared to married ones, highlighting the mental health challenges faced by HCWs during the pandemic.

A novel process is developed for the recovery of germanium from the leach liquor of Zener diodes using solvent extraction. Extraction is carried out using a phosphonium ionic liquid, Cyphos IL 104, as an extractant. Preliminary investigations carried out on Ge(IV) extraction using Cyphos IL 104 include influence of various parameters like temperature, equilibration time, and concentration of extractant, chloride ion, and acid on the distribution of Ge(IV).

Background: Preeclampsia is a multisystem disorder of unknown etiology that affects 4-5% of all pregnancies. The aim of the study was to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of serum soluble endoglin (sEng) in preeclampsia and eclampsia and also to evaluate its prognostic significance.

Materials And Methods: This prospective case-control study carried out over a period of 1 year in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, King George Medical University, Lucknow.
