A new model determines the best tilt angles for PV panels and solar collectors based on yearly, seasonal, and monthly factors, optimizing solar energy capture.
The model uses Orgill and Holland's framework to analyze solar radiation and employs empirical clearness index data to create a relationship between diffused and direct sunlight for various latitudes throughout the year.
It is implemented in MATLAB, shows that slight deviations from the optimal angle have minimal impact on performance, and aligns well with real-world data and other models without suggesting negative tilt angles for lower latitudes.
