Article Synopsis
  • Ovarian cancer is categorized into two types: low-grade serous carcinoma (LGSC), which arises from serous borderline tumors (SBT), and high-grade serous carcinoma (HGSC), typically originating from serous tubal intraepithelial carcinoma (STIC).
  • The case study discusses a patient diagnosed with stage IIIC HGSC, who also had SBT and LGSC, highlighting the complexities in the cancer's development and treatment.
  • Despite undergoing surgery and chemotherapy (TC + bevacizumab), the tumor was resistant to treatment and exhibited mutations, with p53 dysfunction believed to play a role in the transformation from SBT/LGSC to HGSC.

Diabetic neuropathy (DN) is a neurodegenerative disorder that is primarily characterized by distal sensory loss, reduced mobility, and foot ulcers that may potentially lead to amputation. The multifaceted etiology of DN is linked to a range of inflammatory, vascular, metabolic, and other neurodegenerative factors. Chronic inflammation, endothelial dysfunction, and oxidative stress are the three basic biological changes that contribute to the development of DN.

  • Food fraud and ingredient authenticity are crucial issues, and accurate quantification methods like Real Time PCR and Digital PCR can help detect contaminants in food products.
  • The study focused on testing these PCR methods on baby food samples to ensure effectiveness, particularly by using chicken as the target ingredient.
  • Digital PCR outperformed Real Time PCR with less variability, but limitations were found in using genome copy ratios between species for correction, highlighting the reliability of the dPCR system in verifying chicken content in labeled meat products.

Although endometriosis is a benign disease, it is associated with cancer-related gene mutations, such as or . Endometriosis is associated with elevated levels of inflammatory factors that cause severe pain. In a previous study, we demonstrated that or mutations are associated with the activation of cell proliferation, migration, and invasion in a patient-derived immortalized endometriotic cell line, HMOsisEC10.

The current study aimed to describe the annual gametogenic phenology of the oyster (Röding, 1798) (=), which is found on the west coast of Moheshkhali Island, Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh. Samples were drawn monthly from the intertidal region during low tide, from which 20 adult individuals were selected at random for biometry and histology. The mean condition index (CI), a ratio of tissue wet weight (g) to shell length (cm), varied from 0.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is the second most prevalent neurodegenerative movement disorder worldwide, which is primarily characterized by motor impairments. Even though multiple hypotheses have been proposed over the decades that explain the pathogenesis of PD, presently, there are no cures or promising preventive therapies for PD. This could be attributed to the intricate pathophysiology of PD and the poorly understood molecular mechanism.

Article Synopsis
  • Enterococcus species, once thought to be harmless, are now recognized as significant causes of healthcare-associated infections due to their virulent genes.
  • A study analyzed 46 Enterococcus strains from urine samples of urinary tract infection patients at a hospital in Bangladesh, aiming to identify these virulence genes.
  • The findings revealed that a high percentage of the strains, especially E. faecalis and E. faecium, tested positive for multiple virulence genes, indicating their potential pathogenicity.

The prevalence of hypertension (HTN) among youngsters has increased recently. Often, it is underrecognized owing to a lack of routine blood pressure measurement in many health centers, partly due to the unavailability of instruments and possibly because of this perception that it is not the foremost problem in children. There is less information about the parental perception of childhood HTN from Bangladesh.

Developing nanocomposites as efficient photocatalysts for eliminating hazardous contaminants is essential because of growing severity of water pollution. In this study, we have analysed the morphological, structural, magnetic, and optical properties of cobalt ferrite (CoFe2O4), and zinc oxide (ZnO) nanocomposites synthesized via hydrothermal approach and used for removal of rose bengal (RB) dye from contaminated water. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis of synthesized nanocomposite revealed two distinct phases that matched with CoFe2O4 and ZnO.

Yoga has been increasingly practiced in recent years, with many of its practitioners being female. Adults may seek a complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) modality, such as yoga, to attempt to alleviate symptoms related to mental health conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Our goal for this systematic review was to collect and analyze all available data from quantitative and qualitative reports of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) conducted over the past 10 years on the impact of yoga on women diagnosed with PTSD.

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide, with the majority consisting of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Genetic mutations present an opportunity for targeted therapy, in addition to current mainstay treatments such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Overall, 5% of NSCLCs have an anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) mutation, often prevalent in a younger population.

Being one of the most prevalent progressive neurodegenerative disorders (falling second only to Alzheimer's disease) with a clinical pattern affecting millions of lives all over the world, Parkinson's disease (PD) has never failed to attract a formidable interest from the vast majority of neurologists and researchers worldwide. This review article will analyze the pathophysiology, etiology, genetics, and pathological stages of Parkinson's disease with their corresponding clinical sequels. A review article was conducted using research databases including PubMed, PubMed Central, Springer, and Elsevier.

Carbapenem-resistant K pneumoniae (CRKP) clinical isolates have spread widely now-a-days throughout the world. This study was designed to investigate the carbapenem resistance among Klebsiella pneumoniae and to see anitimicrobial susceptibility of these CRKP isolates to other antimicrobials in a tertiary care hospital in Bangladesh. K pneumoniae was detected by standard methods and various biochemical tests like Triple Sugar Iron (TSI) agar media, Simmons citrate agar media and Motility-Indole-Urea (MIU) agar media.
