Educational action research on Facebook®: combining leisure and learning.

Objective: To analyse the path of dialogical education in leisure and mental health in social media.

Method: Action research based on the theoretical-methodological framework of Paulo Freire, conducted with 11 nursing students of a public university in the state of Paraná, Brazil, during seven days of June 2015, in a closed group on Facebook®. The dialogues were called, 'Virtual Culture Circles' and preceded by self-administered questionnaires that addressed the relationship between leisure and mental health.

Feelings of nurses faced with death: pleasure and suffering from the perspective of psychodynamics of Dejours.

Objectives: To analyze the feelings of nurses confronting death, according to the Dejourian psychodynamic.

Methods: This is a qualitative, exploratory study, analyzed, interpreted and discussed emphasizing the suffering and pleasure, proposed by Dejours.

Results: Participants were 11 nurses, mostly woman, single, white, Catholic, between two sixteen years of profession.

Spirituality and humanization according to nursing undergraduates: an action research.

Objective: To know the conceptions of undergraduates from the Teaching Diploma Program with Bachelor degree in Nursing at a public state-owned higher education institution in an interior city in the State of São Paulo about spirituality and humanization, as well as to propose educative action in that sense. Methodoly. A qualitative study was undertaken, using the action research method.

[Concepts of health education by public health nurses].

This qualitative study identifies the ideas regarding health education of 12 nurses who are part of the public health service of a city in the São Paulo countryside, and proposes a corresponding educational action. In this study, we used the methodology of action research. Data collection occurred in the second half of 2009 in the public health units of the mentioned municipality.

Improvement of older women's sexuality through emancipatory education.

The purpose of this action research (AR) was to explore the ways in which sexuality is experienced daily and to improve the expression of older women's sexuality. The pedagogy of autonomy as proposed by the Brazilian educator Paulo Freire theoretically supported this AR, with the participation of six older adult women living in a rural setting in southwest Brazil. The older women's experiences regarding sexuality, their concerns, and their educational demands could be summarized through five phrases: the improvement of self-esteem as a way to promote sexuality; sexuality impaired by loneliness and lack of affection; men's sexual satisfaction seen as a woman's obligation; women's sexuality controlled by the society; and relinquishment of the companion to attend to the expectations of family members.

[Leisure and mental health in people with hypertension: convergence in health education].

People with hypertension constantly deal with issues related to mental health due to the psychosocial determinants of this illness, and leisure is an important control strategy. The objective of this study was to promote health education to a group of hypertensive patients, through research-action, based on critical-social pedagogy, and taking into consideration the participants' perception of leisure. Educational activities were conducted and, following, an evaluation was performed regarding the subjects' opinion about the impact of leisure on their lives and mental health.

[Death education for nursing professors and students: a document review of the scientific literature].

In Western cultures, Death is not among the favorite topics. Nevertheless, how should professionals who deal with Death on a daily basis behave? What meaning does Death have to them? This study consists of a survey on scientific literature about the referred subject in nursing education. Using a qualitative method, a documentary exploratory study was performed, characterized by a survey over a five-year period.

[Analysis of the frequency of experimentation with and consumption of drugs in high-school students].

[Understanding sexuality and sex in schools according to primary education teachers].

With the objective of identifying how teachers at a primary education level understand sexuality/sex in the school, we sought to collect data relative to these issues in the everyday school life, observing the school's position and how they deal with this issue. This is a qualitative, humanist study, performed by means of research-action. Data collection was performed through participant observation and individual interviews, using a questionnaire containing guiding questions.

Conceptions of nursing students on health promotion related to psychoactive substances.

This qualitative study aimed to investigate the perception of undergraduate nursing students on health promotion in view of the use of psychoactive substances. Nine undergraduate students, attending the last disciplines of the first semester, participated in the study and were divided in two focal groups. The theoretical-methodological referential was based on Paulo Freire's theory of conscientization.

[Utilization of the problematizing pedagogy in the nursing graduation for the care of the aggressive patient].

This investigation aims at identifying, along with the graduation students, the prevailing difficulties in attending the aggressive patient. In this study, an instrument has been applied on the first and on the last day of apprenticeship to third-year students. The analysis occurred in a qualitative way by making use of Paulo Freire's thematic analysis.

[Profile of the demand for stricto sensu graduate programs offered by the University of São Paulo at Ribeirão Preto College of Nursing].

This study aimed at describing and analyzing the profile of the demand for stricto sensu graduate programs--master and doctoral degree offered by the University of São Paulo at Ribeirão Preto College of Nursing from 1975 to 2002. Data were collected through the records of the students enrolled in the programs. The sample consisted of 979 students: 210 from the Psychiatric Nursing Program, 375 from the Fundamental Nursing Program, 203 from the Public Health Program and 189 from the Interunit Doctoral Program.
