Background And Objectives: Cubital tunnel syndrome is the second most common nerve entrapment, and understanding the anatomy is crucial for the success of the nerve release. During ulnar nerve release for cubital tunnel syndrome, a motor branch is frequently encountered crossing anteriorly over the ulnar nerve from its medial/ulnar side proximally to the lateral/radial side distally. Little has been noted about this crossing branch in the literature.

Article Synopsis
  • Carpal and cubital tunnel syndromes are rare in children, and their simultaneous occurrence is even less common, as illustrated by a unique case of a 15-year-old girl with significant nerve entrapment and damage.
  • The patient underwent surgery after two years of conservative treatment, revealing severe compression of the median and ulnar nerves, which still showed inflammation post-surgery.
  • Research using the TriNetX database identified only 503 out of over 20 million pediatric patients with both conditions, highlighting the rarity of such cases in the community.

For the management of hydrocephalus with ventricular cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) shunting, multiple therapeutic options are available. Among these routes, the most commonly used are ventriculo-peritoneal, ventriculo-atrial, and ventriculo-pleural, while ventriculo-cholecystic is a less common option. Although ventriculo-peritoneal is accepted as the first option, ventriculo-cholecystic shunting may be performed in patients who are poor candidates for other routes of shunt placement.

Background: Multiple studies suggest routine postoperative intensive care unit (ICUs) stays in presumed high-risk neurosurgical procedures may be unnecessary. Our objective was to evaluate the risk factors associated with ICU-specific needs in patients undergoing elective endovascular treatment of unruptured intracranial aneurysms.

Methods: A retrospective review of consecutive patients undergoing elective endovascular treatment of unruptured aneurysms was performed between January 2010 and January 2020 in a single academic medical center.

The beneficial effects of agonists of growth hormone-releasing hormone receptor (GHRH-R) in heart failure models are associated with an increase in the number of ckit(+) cardiac stem cells (CSCs). The goal of the present study was to determine the presence of GHRH-R in CSCs, the effect of GHRH-R agonists on their proliferation and survival, and the mechanisms involved. We investigated the expression of GHRH-R in CSCs of different species and the effect of GHRH-R agonists on their cell proliferation and survival.
