Introduction: Despite recent advances, triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) patients remain at high risk for recurrence and metastasis, which creates the need for innovative therapeutic approaches to improve patient outcomes. Cryoablation is a promising, less invasive alternative to surgical resection, capable of inducing tumor necrosis via freeze/thaw cycles. Necrotic cell death results in increased inflammatory signals and release of preserved tumor antigens, which have the potential to boost the local and systemic anti-tumor immune response.

Introduction And Importance: Super-refractory status epilepticus is defined as status epilepticus that continues or recurs 24 h or more after the initiation of anesthetic therapy(continuum), a serious medical emergency with a potential for significant morbidity and mortality. Cortisectomy with invasive EEG recording electrocorticography (ECoG) can be a successful treatment option for super-refractory status epilepticus in selected cases after medical management has failed.

Case Presentation: The authors present a case of a young lady who suffered a super-refractory status epilepticus and failed five different anti-seizure medications, coma-producing agents, IVIG.

This work demonstrates an effective quenching electrochemiluminescent (ECL) immunosensor based on resonance energy transfer for the sensitive detection of alpha fetoprotein (AFP). In this strategy, graphitic carbon nitride (g-CN) was coupled with bismuth molybdenum oxide (BiMoO) to form a g-CN/BiMoO nanocomposite as a novel type of ECL immunosensor. The as-synthesized amino-modified g-CN/BiMoO nanocomposite presents strong and stable cathodic ECL activity compared to pristine g-CN.

Background: Widespread use of screening mammography has allowed breast cancer to be detected at earlier stages. This allows for increased customization of treatment and less aggressive management. De-escalation of therapy plays an important role in decreasing treatment burden and improving patient quality of life.

Detection of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) in cancer images has gained significant importance as these lymphocytes can be used as a biomarker in cancer detection and treatment procedures. Our goal was to develop and apply a TILs detection tool that utilizes deep learning models, following two sequential steps. First, based on the guidelines from the International Immuno-Oncology Biomarker Working Group (IIOBWG) on Breast Cancer, we labeled 63 large pathology imaging slides and annotated the TILs in the stroma area to create the dataset required for model development.

Article Synopsis
  • DVL2 is a protein that affects how tumors grow and how our immune system fights against them, especially in a type of breast cancer called HER2-positive.
  • Researchers tested how DVL2 works using breast cancer cells and looked at patient samples to see how it might influence tumor immunity.
  • The study found that when DVL2 is not working well, it can help lower tumor growth and improve immune responses, which is important for fighting cancer.

Objective: The opening of the blood-brain barrier (BBB) to allow therapeutic drug passage can be achieved by inducing microbubble cavitation using focused ultrasound (FUS). This approach can be monitored through analysis of the received signal to distinguish between stable cavitation associated with safe BBB opening and inertial cavitation associated with blood vessel damage. In this study, FUS phantom and animal studies were used to evaluate the experimental conditions that generate several cross-consistent metrics having the potential to be combined for the reliable, automatic control of cavitation levels.

Background: Cryoablation has been established as a minimally invasive alternative to resection of early-stage breast cancer; however, there are no data on the cost and impact on patients' financial, psychosocial, sexual, physical, and cosmetic outcomes utilizing this approach. This study compares cost-effectiveness and patient-reported quality-of-life factors in cryoablation versus resection.

Methods: Women with early-stage, low-risk infiltrating ductal carcinomas ≤ 1.

Background: Preliminary data suggest that patients with COVID-19 may experience psychiatric symptoms, including psychosis. We systematically reviewed the literature to evaluate the concurrence of new-onset psychosis or exacerbation of clinically stable psychosis through case reports and case series.

Methods: Six databases were searched, followed by an electronic and manual search of the relevant articles.

. Microbubble cavitation generated by focused ultrasound () can induce safe blood-brain-barrier () opening allowing therapeutic drug passage. Spectral changes in the hydrophone sensor signal are currently used to distinguish stable cavitation from inertial cavitation that can damage theGibbs' ringing, peak intensity loss and peak width increase are well-known distortions evident when using the discrete Fourier transform () to transform data containing a few hundred points.

Diversity enhances the performance of the healthcare system by providing better patient outcomes and reducing physician burnout. In this study, we explored the gender and racial trends in the recruitment of women and racial minorities into forensic psychiatry fellowship programs in the US. Retrospective data analysis was performed by utilizing the data from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)'s annual Data Resource Books from the year 2007 to 2021.

Article Synopsis
  • * A study from 2007 to 2021 analyzed the diversity of pediatric residents through ACGME data, revealing significant increases in representation for Asian/Pacific Islander and Black (non-Hispanic) residents, while Native American/Alaskan representation decreased.
  • * The findings highlight the need for a healthcare workforce that better reflects the demographics of the community to ensure culturally sensitive care for a diverse patient population.

The United States of America (USA) has a culturally and ethnically diverse population. Various gender and racial minorities in the healthcare system are not represented adequately when compared to their ratios in the general population. This study reviewed the gender and racial distribution and its temporal trends among fellows in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry (CLP) within the USA.

Objective: The United States (USA) is a culturally and ethnically diverse country with an estimated 5.6 to 8 million elderly population living with psychiatric and substance use disorders and a dwindling geriatric psychiatry workforce. In this study, we explored the gender and racial trends in USA geriatrics psychiatry fellowship programs from 2007-20, and forecasted the 2030 geriatric psychiatry workforce to identify the gaps and provide recommendations.

Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate the feasibility of cryoablation for early-stage low-risk breast cancer without tumor resection.

Methods: Women diagnosed with ER+, PR+, and HER2-infiltrating ductal carcinomas ≤1.5 cm were treated with cryoablation.

Oligodendrocyte (OLG)-related abnormalities have been broadly observed in schizophrenia (SZ); however, the etiology of these abnormalities remains unknown. As SZ is broadly believed to be a developmental disorder, the etiology of the myelin abnormalities in SZ may be related to OLG fate specification during development. Noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs) are an important part of multifaceted transcriptional complexes participating in neurogenic commitment and regulation of postmitotic cell function.

Autoimmune encephalitis is rare. Several auto- antibodies are described in autoimmune encephalitis. We describe a case of autoimmune limbic encephalitis associated with positive voltage gated potassium channel (VGKC) antibodies and positive leucine-rich glioma inactivated protein 1 antibodies (LGI1).
