Background: The triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index has emerged as a credible surrogate indicator of insulin resistance in recent years. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between the TyG index and the deterioration of kidney function in patients with cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic (CKM) syndrome.
Methods: In this retrospective cohort study from China, 27,407 hospitalized patients with stage 1-4 CKM syndrome were consecutively included.
Background And Aims: Diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) and diabetic nephropathy (DN) both have microcirculation dysfunction. Urinary albumin-to-creatinine ratio (UACR) is a biomarker for DN. We aimed to explore the links between DPN and UACR in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).

Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a clinical syndrome that is characterized by a sudden loss of kidney function, leading to severe metabolic disorders, multiple organ failure, and even death. Recent studies have strengthened the evidence for ferroptosis in AKI development. Alliin, a sulfur-containing amino acid with multiple pharmacological functions, was claimed with promising antioxidant and anti-inflammation effects in protecting organ damages.

However, consensus regarding ideal reference genes for relative long RNAs quantification in uEVs is not available as of date.

The possible mechanisms mediating these unexpected cardiorenal benefits are being extensively investigated because they cannot solely be attributed to improvements in glycaemic control. Notably, emerging data indicate that metabolic reprogramming is involved in the progression of cardiorenal metabolic diseases.

Risk assessment provides information about patient prognosis, contributing to the risk stratification of patients and the rational allocation of medical resources. We aimed to develop a model for individualized prediction of renal function decline in patients with type 2 DKD (T2DKD).

Methods: Microarray studies of DN were searched in the GEO database and Nephroseq platform.

Oxygen homeostasis disturbances play a critical role in the pathogenesis of acute kidney injury (AKI). The transcription factor hypoxia-inducible factor-1 (HIF-1) is a master regulator of adaptive responses to hypoxia. Aside from posttranslational hydroxylation, the mechanism of HIF-1 regulation in AKI remains largely unclear.

The development of novel biomarkers and early diagnosis of DN are of great clinical importance. The goal of this study was to identify hub genes with diagnostic potential for DN by weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA).

However, the biodistribution of MSC-exos in ischemic AKI has not been established. The potential of MSC-exos in promoting tubular repair and the underlying mechanisms remain largely unknown.

Although hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) is a master regulator of the response to hypoxia/ischemia, the role of HIF-1α in CKD progression following incomplete recovery from AKI is poorly understood. Here, we investigated this issue using moderate and severe ischemia/reperfusion injury (I/RI) mouse models.

Neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL), as a promising next-generation biomarker in clinical nephrology, has received extensive attention. However, its diagnostic performance in LN has high variability.

To evaluate the putative role of HPV infection in esophageal adenocarcinoma, 57 formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded esophageal adenocarcinoma specimens were collected from four hospitals in Shanghai and Anyang, China, between 1999 and 2008. HPV DNA was analyzed using PCR with multiple sets of consensus primers for HPV, GP5+/6+, CPI/CPIIG, SPF10, pU-1M/pU2R, and pU31B/pU2R.

Objective: To study the expression of neonatal Fc receptor in podocytes in human nephritis and immune-induced rat nephritis models: anti-Thy1.1 nephritis and Heymann nephritis.
Methods: Thirty-nine cases of renal biopsies were enrolled from September 2009 to February 2010, including 8 cases of minimal change disease, 4 cases of focal segmental glomerulosclerosis, 9 cases of membranous nephropathy, 12 cases of IgA nephropathy and 6 cases of lupus nephritis.
Ubiquitin c-terminal hydrolase-1 is overexpressed in renal podocytes in some immune complex-mediated glomerulonephritides, an effect closely related to extensive podocyte injury. Neonatal Fc receptor is newly recognized to be present on human renal podocytes. It is presumed that neonatal Fc receptor serves as a sensor for immune stimulation transduction and is involved in the pathogenesis of podocyte injury.
