Viral-based chimeric antigen receptor-engineered T (CAR T)-cell manufacturing has potential safety risks and relatively high costs. The nonviral minicircle DNA (mcDNA) is safer for patients, cheaper to produce, and may be a more suitable technique to generate CAR T cells.
