Article Synopsis
  • Amputation due to high-energy trauma often results in complex tissue damage, leading to a high revision rate, but successful reconstructions can improve quality of life.
  • This study examined a protocol for revascularizing and reconstructing the hand after traumatic amputation using an anterolateral thigh flap (ALT) in patients with severe injuries.
  • Out of 11 patients treated over seven years, all limbs survived, with most achieving good functional recovery, although one case required further intervention due to partial flap necrosis.
