Background: As a genus within the Clavicipitaceae, exhibits rich morphological and ecological diversity, with a wide distribution and a variety of hosts. Currently, sixty-eight species of have been described.
New Information: A new species of , (Hong Yu bis), was described in Pu'er City, Yunnan Province, south-western China.
Background: There have been few studies on the role of autophagy in pancreatic neuroendocrine tumours (PNETs). SQSTM1/p62 (also called Sequestosome 1) is a potential autophagy regulator, and its biological roles and clinical significance in PNETs remain poorly understood.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the clinical significance of SQSTM1/p62 in human PNET specimens and to evaluate its potential value as a therapeutic target by studying its biological function in PNET cell lines.
The angiotensin receptor neprilysin inhibitor LCZ696 affords superior cardioprotection and renoprotection compared with renin-angiotensin blockade monotherapy, but the underlying mechanisms remain elusive. Herein, we evaluated whether LCZ696 attenuates renal fibrosis by inhibiting ASK1/JNK/p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK)-mediated apoptosis in a rat model of unilateral ureteral obstruction (UUO) and in vitro. Rats with UUO were treated daily for 7 days with LCZ696, valsartan, or the selective ATP competitive inhibitor of apoptosis signal-regulating kinase 1 (ASK1), GS-444217.

Saldigones A-C (1, 3, 4), three new isoprenylated flavonoids with diverse flavanone, pterocarpan, and isoflavanone architectures, were characterized from the roots of Salvia digitaloides, together with a known isoprenylated flavanone (2). Notably, it's the first report of isoprenylated flavonoids from Salvia species. The structures of these isolates were elucidated by extensive spectroscopic analysis.

Sixteen diterpenoid alkaloids (DAs), including six aconitine-type alkaloids (5 and 9 - 13), seven 7,17-seco-aconitine-type alkaloids (1 - 4, 6 - 8), two napelline-type alkaloids (14 and 15) as well as one veatchine-type alkaloid (16), were isolated from the aerial parts of Aconitum flavum Hand.-Mazz. In which, flavumolines A - D (1 - 4) were four new ones, and flavumoline E (5) was reported as natural compound for the first time.

Methods: A total of 143 PNETs were assessed by Sanger sequencing to identify the somatic mutation of YY1 gene in various subtypes of PNETs.
The vibration and noise that resulted from turbomachinery, such as fans, compressors, and centrifugal pumps, are known to bring considerable disturbance and pollution to the machine itself, the environment, and the operators. Hence, how to cope with the vibration and noise has become a recent research focus. With the advancement of materials science, more and more new nanomaterials have been applied in the field of noise and vibration reduction.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFAberrant blood vessel formation and hemorrhage may contribute to tumor progression and are potential targets in the treatment of several types of cancer. Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (PNETs) are highly vascularized, particularly when they are well-differentiated. However, the process of vascularization and endothelial cell detachment in PNETs is poorly understood.

We identified the differential expression of proteins between insulinoma and their paired tissues by proteomic analysis, and evaluated the prognostic significance of specific proteins in pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors including insulinoma.

Species identity and the trichothecene chemotype of 312 members of the FGSC from diseased wheat spikes and maize stalks in Henan was determined using phylogenetic analyses and a polymerase chain reaction trichothecene chemotype assay. High voltage light emitting diodes (HV-LEDs) have potential advantages on general lighting application for their special features. But as novel power LEDs, their optical, electrical and thermal characteristics still need to be further studied. In this paper, 6 and 9 V GaN-based HV-LEDs were packaged in the same package structure and process conditions.

Methods: Retrospective review of medical records of patients diagnosed with insulinoma at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center between 2000 and 2015 was conducted. Hormonal expression in tumor specimens was examined by immunostaining.
The presentation, pathology, and prognosis of pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (PNETs) in Asian patients have not been studied in large cohorts. We hypothesized that the clinicopathological features of PNETs of Chinese patients might be different from those of US patients. The objectives of this study were to address whether PNETs in Chinese patients exhibit unique clinicopathological features and natural history, and can be graded and staged using the WHO/ENETS criteria.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (PNETs) are a group of rare tumors. Chromogranin A (CgA) was considered as the most practical and useful serum tumor marker in PNET patients. But peripheral blood levels of CgA are not routinely tested in Chinese patients with PNETs.
