The zero-tannin trait in lentil is controlled by a single recessive gene (tan) that results in a phenotype characterized by green stems, white flowers, and thin, transparent, or translucent seed coats. Genes that result in zero-tannin characteristics are useful for studies of seed coat pigmentation and biochemical characters because they have altered pigmentation. Service routes optimization (SRO) of pallet service center should meet customers' demand firstly and then, through the reasonable method of lines organization, realize the shortest path of vehicle driving. The routes optimization of pallet service center is similar to the distribution problems of vehicle routing problem (VRP) and Chinese postman problem (CPP), but it has its own characteristics. Based on the relevant research results, the conditions of determining the number of vehicles, the one way of the route, the constraints of loading, and time windows are fully considered, and a chance constrained programming model with stochastic constraints is constructed taking the shortest path of all vehicles for a delivering (recycling) operation as an objective.

In our continuing structure-activity relationship study of a new class of erythromycin A (EM-A) derivatives with antiproliferative activity, a new series of de(N-methyl) EM-A dimers jointed by a four-atom linker, -CH2CH = CHCH2-, were prepared and their antiproliferative activity against three human tumor cell lines was evaluated by MTT assay. The most active EM-A dimer, compound 1b, that carrying C6 methoxyl groups was further investigated and showed potent antiproliferative activity in six other human tumor cell lines. Flow cytometry analysis of 1b treated HeLa and MCF-7 cells indicated that the four-atom EM-A dimers induced the SubG1 phase cell cycle arrest and cell apoptosis, in time- and dose-dependent manners.

Due to the intricate structure of porous rocks, relationships between porosity or saturation and petrophysical transport properties classically used for reservoir evaluation and recovery strategies are either very complex or nonexistent. The theoretical research of supercontinuum (SC) generation in a fiber amplifier system has been seldom reported. For the purpose of further understanding the mechanism of SC generation in fiber amplifiers, we propose a combined numerical model of the laser rate equations and the generalized non-linear Schrödinger equation to simulate the amplification of 1060 nm picosecond pulses and their spectral broadening in an ytterbium-doped fiber amplifier. The calculation results of this model are compared with the experimental results under the same conditions and a good agreement is achieved.

In order to identify important variables that are involved in making optimal treatment decision, Lu, Zhang and Zeng (2013) proposed a penalized least squared regression framework for a fixed number of predictors, which is robust against the misspecification of the conditional mean model. Two problems arise: (i) in a world of explosively big data, effective methods are needed to handle ultra-high dimensional data set, for example, with the dimension of predictors is of the non-polynomial (NP) order of the sample size; (ii) both the propensity score and conditional mean models need to be estimated from data under NP dimensionality.
