The parasitoid wasp genus Mason, 1981 is revised, based on a combination of basic morphology (dichotomous key and brief diagnostic descriptions), DNA barcoding, biology (host data and wasp cocoons), and distribution data. A total of 49 species is considered; the genus is almost entirely Neotropical (48 species recorded from that region), but three species reach the Nearctic, with one of them extending as far north as 45° N in Canada. parasitizes exclusively Hesperiinae caterpillars (Lepidoptera: Hesperiidae), mostly feeding on monocots in the families Arecaceae, Bromeliaceae, Cannaceae, Commelinaceae, Heliconiaceae, and Poaceae.

The objective of this experiment was to determine if incorporation of kisspeptin-10 (Kp10) into treatment with estradiol benzoate (EB) and sulpiride to induce early cyclicity would result in greater endocrine responses and a greater number of mares responding with either follicle(s) > 30 mm or ovulation within 25 days of treatment. Eighteen anestrous mares were blocked by breed, body condition, and age before random assignment to treatment or control. All mares received 50 mg EB before receiving osmotic minipumps containing either saline (n = 9) or Kp10 (50 μg/hour; n = 9) one day later.

The goal of this study was to understand the composition and existence of the resident uterine microbiome in healthy mares and to establish the presence of a core microbiome for the healthy equine uterus. We analyzed the microbiomes of 35 healthy mares that are long-time residents of three farms in Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Australia as well as that of 19 mares purchased from scattered owners in the Southern Mid-Western states of the United States. Over 6 million paired-end reads of the V4 region of the 16S rRNA gene were obtained resulting in 19,542 unique Amplicon Sequence Variants (ASVs).
