Purpose: With clinical volumes decreased, radiologists volunteered to participate virtually in daily clinical rounds and provide communication between frontline physicians and patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and their families affected by restrictive hospital visitation policies. The purpose of this survey-based assessment was to demonstrate the beneficial effects of radiologist engagement during this pandemic and potentially in future crises if needed.

Methods: After the program's completion, a survey consisting of 13 multiple-choice and open-ended questions was distributed to the 69 radiologists who volunteered for a minimum of 7 days.

Objective: The objective of this study was to describe the impact of opening an inpatient child psychiatric unit in an urban tertiary care pediatric emergency department (PED).

Design/methods: A retrospective chart review was performed of pediatric patients seen in the PED at a large tertiary care center who presented for a primary psychiatric concern before opening of the inpatient psychiatric unit within the same hospital and 6 months following, allowing for a 6-month adjustment period. Patients were identified via query of the ED Cube model, an institutional database by a "behavioral health" flag that is documented in triage.

Introduction: The incidence of childhood malignancy is greatest in the 1 year of life, with the second peak to be found at 2-3 years of age. The aim for the study was to investigate the incidence and nature of oral problems occurring in a population of child cancer patients; the other aim was to assess the dental management of the treatment undergoing children.

Materials And Methods: All child patients between 2 and 15 years old were admitted to the medical hospital for the treatment of newly diagnosed oral cancer over a period of 1 year were included in the study.

The study was envisaged for elucidating the effect of immunosuppression on the pathology and pathogenesis of experimental respiratory absidiomycosis in rabbits. Seventy rabbits used in the experiment were divided into different groups viz. non-immunosuppressed, immunosuppressed with cyclophosphamide and immunosuppressed with methylprednisolone respectively, and a control group.

CTLA-4 is an activation-induced, homodimeric inhibitory receptor in T cells. Recent crystallographic reports have suggested that it may form lattice-like arrays on the cell surface upon binding B7.1/B7.

Type 1 diabetes (T1D) in non-obese diabetic (NOD) mice may be favored by immune dysregulation leading to the hyporesponsiveness of regulatory T cells and activation of effector T-helper type 1 (Th1) cells. The immunoregulatory activity of natural killer T (NKT) cells is well documented, and both interleukin (IL)-4 and IL-10 secreted by NKT cells have important roles in mediating this activity. NKT cells are less frequent and display deficient IL-4 responses in both NOD mice and individuals at risk for T1D (ref.

A study was undertaken to investigate the effect of immunosuppression by cyclophosphamide or methylprednisolone on the clinicopathological alterations in respiratory absidiosis in rabbits. Infected rabbits showed respiratory distress that was more severe in immunosuppressed groups. Leukocytosis due to neutrophilia was observed in the non-immunosuppressed group in the initial stages, whereas leukopenia was observed in both the immunosuppressed groups initially, owing to polymorphopenia in the cyclophosphamide-treated group and to lymphopenia in the methylprednisolone-treated group, followed by leukocytosis in both groups.

Zygomycosis was produced experimentally in 20 New Zealand white rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus) by intra-nasal administration of spores of Absidia corymbifera. Infected animals showed dullness, depression, coughing and mucopurulent nasal discharge, but no mortality. Haematology revealed no significant change in Hb and PCV, but leukocytosis due to neutrophilia in the initial stages of the experiment.
