Selective Detection of CO Using Proton-Conducting Graphene Oxide Membranes with Pt-Doped SnO Electrocatalysts: Mechanistic Study by Operando DRIFTS.

To reduce the risk of carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning, there is a strong need for small, compact gas sensors to detect and monitor CO at ppm concentrations. In this study, we focused on detecting CO with electrochemical sensors based on proton-conducting graphene oxide (GO) nanosheets at room temperature. We found that a Ce-doped GO nanosheet membrane fitted with the sensing electrode composed of Pt (10 wt %)-doped SnO nanocrystals exhibits an excellent sensor response to CO at 25 °C.

Electrochemical Detection of Ethanol in Air Using Graphene Oxide Nanosheets Combined with Au-WO.

Detection, monitoring, and analysis of ethanol are important in various fields such as health care, food industries, and safety control. In this study, we report that a solid electrolyte gas sensor based on a proton-conducting membrane is promising for detecting ethanol in air. We focused on graphene oxide (GO) as a new solid electrolyte because it shows a high proton conductivity at room temperature.

Detection of surface-associated and intracellular glycoconjugates and glycoproteins in Neospora caninum tachyzoites.

The surface-associated molecules of the invasive stages of apicomplexan parasites such as Neospora caninum and Toxoplasma gondii are most likely crucially involved in mediating the interaction between the parasite and its host cell. In N. caninum, several antigens have recently been identified which could participate in host cell adhesion and/or invasion.

Long-term results of ABO-incompatible living kidney transplantation: a single-center experience.

Background: Despite great efforts to promote the donation of cadaveric organs, the number of organ transplantations in Japan is not increasing and a serious shortage of cadaveric organs exists. Effects of simvastatin, a cholesterol synthesis inhibitor, on phosphatidylcholine synthesis in HepG2 cells.

The effects of the addition of a 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase inhibitor, simvastatin, to the medium on sterol synthesis and phosphatidylcholine (PC) synthesis were studied in HepG2 cells. The cells were cultured with simvastatin at concentrations of 10(-7) and 10(-6) mol/L for 6 hours, and radioactive lipid precursors were added 1 hour before harvesting. Simvastatin inhibited cholesterol synthesis from [14C]acetate in a dose-dependent manner.
