Background: Pelvic organ prolapse is an important problem for women. To overcome this issue, different operational technics are in use, such as abdominal sacrocolpopexy, sacrospinous fixation, and the total Prolift procedure.
Aims: This study assessed perioperative complications in abdominal sacrocolpopexy, sacrospinous fixation, and the total Prolift procedure.
Objective: To determine the effects of different hormone replacement therapy (HRT) regimens on thyroid function in surgical menopause.
Study Design: In a randomized, controlled study, 59 euthyroid women with surgical menopause were randomized to an estrogen-only (n=20), tibolone (n=20) or calcium-only (n=19) group. On the 5th postoperative day and 4th and 12th weeks, serum E2, TSH, free T3 and free T4 levels were determined.
The aim of the present prospective controlled study was to examine the influence of 17beta-estradiol and tibolone on tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) levels in healthy women with surgical menopause. Forty-five surgically menopausal women were included in the study. Thirty women were randomized to receive tibolone 2.

Pedunculated submucosal myomas are generally associated with infertility and are most often encountered during the preconception period. This report describes a 38-y-old pregnant woman in whom a pedunculated submucosal myoma resulted in preterm labor and was successfully removed vaginally at 26 wk gestation. The procedure described here is simple and quick and can be performed during pregnancy, if necessary.

Out of a total of the 42 patients, 32 underwent PDR and concomitant pelvic reconstructive procedures, and 10 patients underwent PDR plus anti-incontinence surgery and concomitant pelvic reconstructive procedures. The mean patient age was 44.

Aims: The aim of this prospective, randomised, double-blind study was to examine the effectiveness of rectally administered misoprostol on inducing intestinal motility after gynaecological surgery.
Methods: Eighty women who underwent hysterectomy were divided randomly into three groups.
Post-partum hemorrhage may be a life-threatening condition. A case of a patient receiving antithrombotic therapy for the factor V Leiden mutation, in whom post-partum hemorrhage had occurred due to placenta increta, is described. In this case, the post-partum hemorrhage did not respond to bilateral hypogastric artery ligation, while the B-Lynch surgical technique was successful in obtaining hemostasis.

The cardiovascular risk marker homocysteine (Hcy) is elevated in women with PCOS. This prospective study investigated the effect of oral contraceptives containing ethinyl estradiol-cyproterone acetate (EE-CA) on serum Hcy levels in women with PCOS.

Objective: The use of oral contraceptive (OC) pills alters the characteristic features of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) complicating the diagnosis of this disease. Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) levels are high in PCOS patients and are stable throughout the menstrual cycle in healthy subjects. This study examined the influence of hormonal suppression with OC therapy on the serum AMH levels in women with PCOS and with normal menstrual cycles.

Study Design: Twenty young women underwent abdominal sacrohysteropexy and concomitant reconstructive surgery. The preoperative and postoperative protocols included a urogynecologic history, physical examination, voiding diary, 1-hour pad test, cough stress test, multichannel urodynamic studies and administration of a validated, prolapse-specific symptom inventory and quality of life instrument.
Objective: To compare the effectiveness of tibolone and 17beta-estradiol on climacteric symptoms, in a randomized, single-blind, cross-over study in surgically menopausal women.
Material And Methods: Forty surgically menopausal women were divided randomly into two groups. Group A received treatment with tibolone for 6 months, while group B received 17beta-estradiol.

This study assessed perioperative complications in abdominal sacrocolpopexy and vaginal sacrospinous ligament fixation procedures. Perioperative complications were defined as any complication occurring during surgery or the first 6 weeks postoperatively. Forty-five patients underwent abdominal procedures (20 sacrohysteropexy and 25 sacrocolpopexy) and 60 patients underwent vaginal sacrospinous fixation.

Study Design: A retrospective study of the patients requiring an emergency peripartum hysterectomy of a 9-year period was conducted. Emergency peripartum hysterectomy was defined as one performed for hemorrhage unresponsive to other treatment less than 24 h after delivery.
Objective: The aim of this prospective study was to evaluate the effects of tibolone on carotid atherosclerosis in healthy postmenopausal women.
Methods: Twenty-five healthy postmenopausal women were included in the study. Patients received tibolone 2.
The aim of this study is to compare the blood flows of bilateral uterine, ovarian and arcuate arteries in patients who underwent bilateral hypogastric ligation (BHL), with the controls having similar characteristics. The S/D, the RI and the PI were measured on uterine, arcuate and ovarian arteries in 7 women with BHL and compared with 10 controls. There were not significant differences between the Doppler indices of the two groups.
