Purpose: To elicit expert opinion on the use of adjunctive corticosteroid therapy in bacterial corneal ulcers. To perform a Bayesian analysis of the Steroids for Corneal Ulcers Trial (SCUT), using expert opinion as a prior probability.
Methods: The SCUT was a placebo-controlled trial assessing visual outcomes in patients receiving topical corticosteroids or placebo as adjunctive therapy for bacterial keratitis.
Purpose: To estimate the costs of treating corneal ulcers at a tertiary eye care center in south India from a patient perspective.
Methods: A prospective cohort study design at a tertiary eye care center in south India. Each subject presenting with corneal ulcers to the center had a detailed clinical and laboratory workup including slit-lamp biomicroscopy, direct smear examination with appropriate stains, and cultures.
