This equivalence, randomized, clinical trial aimed to compare the postoperative pain of root canal therapy (RCT) with pulpotomy with mineral trioxide aggregate (PMTA) or calcium-enriched mixture (PCEM) in permanent mature teeth. In seven academic centers, 550 cariously exposed pulps were included and randomly allocated into PMTA ( = 188), PCEM ( = 194), or RCT ( = 168) arms. Preoperative "Pain Intensity" (PI) on Numerical Rating Scale and postoperative PIs until day 7 were recorded.

Methods And Materials: In this , experimental study, 60 extracted maxillary first and second molars with 20 to 40 mesiobuccal root curvature, minimum of 19 mm of root length, no calcified root canals and no history of previous treatment were divided into two groups (=30). CBCT scans were taken before and after the treatment, and sections at 1, 2 and 3 mm from the apex were compared.
