Article Synopsis
  • A single dose of cisplatin in mice caused disruption of blood clotting, leading to issues like hypocoagulation by day 15.
  • Furocoumarins and warfarin were used as treatments, showing that furocoumarins corrected coagulation issues on days 7-10 and continued to be effective up to day 30, while warfarin led to problems after initial correction.
  • The effectiveness of furocoumarins was confirmed using various analytical techniques, demonstrating a potential alternative treatment for cisplatin-induced coagulation disturbances.

Procoagulant status was modeled in outbred female mice by single injection of cisplatin in a maximum tolerated dose and hemostasis parameters monitored over 30 days by methods of coagulogram and low-frequency piezothromboelastography (global test). Monitoring revealed waveform changes in the hemostatic potential: the structural and chronometric hypercoagulation recorded starting from the first day and attaining its maximum on days 5-7 was followed by hypocoagulation and returned to normocoagulation on day 30. This pattern reflects prolonged effect of cisplatin: formation of severe dysfunction of the endothelium providing the main anticoagulant pool of hemostasis (day 1) aggravated by disturbances of the plastic functions of the liver (days 15-20), and recovery (days 20-30).

Cytochrome p450-mediated metabolism of GRS (indolinone antiaggregant) and its effects on activities of cytochrome p450 isoenzymes were studied. Inhibition of 6 isomers of cytochrome p450 in human liver microsomes was studied with the use of specific substrates. It was found that human liver cytochrome p450 enzymes could not induce degradation of GRS and that GRS was not an inductor or inhibitor of cytochrome p450 family members 1A2, 2C9, 2C19, 2D6, 2C8, and 3A4.

Comparative analysis of the effectiveness of global tests for evaluation of the blood coagulation systems demonstrated the possibility of obtaining express data on hemostasis stages I-II and III when working with native substrate (whole blood). Changes in viscous characteristics of the whole blood recorded ex vivo during hemocoagulation allowed us to propose the concept of permanency of fibrinogenesis as the obligatory in vivo process determining the hemostatic potential, an integral characteristic of the hemocoagulation cycle providing sufficient blood fluidity and limiting extravasation of blood components under conditions of permeability disturbances and damage to the vascular wall.

The state-of-the-art review of literature on existing views on the association of periodontal diseases with somatic therapeutic pathology (part 1 of the review) and comorbid conditions (part 2 of the review) is submitted. The conclusion about need of carrying out the further multicenter researches which purpose is development of new integrated indicators, in a complex and comprehensively characterizing not only the periodontal status, but also set of available somatic therapeutic pathology, especially at patients of advanced and senile age is drawn.

The activities of the main digestive hydrolases were comparatively studied in bream infected and noninfected with cestodes Caryophyllaeus laticeps (Pallas, 1781). It was shown that enzyme activities are distributed in the fish intestine in an irregular manner; the gradient of protease and lipase activities along the gut is presented. Following the infection of bream by cestodes, the activities of the studied enzymes decreased and the percentages of activities of various proteinase subclasses changed.

Original version of intraosseous plate implant of beam type was elaborated intended for patients with end dentition defects, fool absence of teeth on maxilla with sharp reduction of alveolar process. On the stage of working out the distribution of deflected mode status developed in jaw bone structures under the influence of alternate loads on the system implant-prosthetic device was studied. In the period from 1995 to 2003 to 143 patients with partial or full loss of teeth and sharp reduction of maxilla alveolar process 205 intraosseous beam type implants were installed.

The results of the clinical studies indicate that DNAase treatment of the patients with maxillofacial abscesses and phlegmons increases the effect of antibacterial therapy. During microbiologic testing in the patients treated with DNAase together with antibacterial therapy it was recorded a marked decrease in the plating of bacteria. This effect is supposed to be connected with enzyme ability to penetrate into microbial biofilms and disturb microbial interactions.

We perform a Monte Carlo simulation of irreversible template copolymerization near a chemically heterogeneous surface with a regular distribution of discrete adsorption sites that selectively adsorb from solution one of the two polymerizing monomers and the corresponding chain segments. In the polymerization model, the chain propagation process is simulated by adding individual monomers to the end of growing macroradical. We focus in this paper on the influence of polymerization rate, adsorption energy, and the distance between adsorption sites on the chain conformation and the primary sequence of the resulting two-letter (AB) copolymers and, specifically, on the coupling between polymerization and adsorption.

A retrospective analysis of case histories of 110 patients subjected to reconstructive surgery for occlusion abnormalities was carried out. The data indicate that complete correspondence of teleroentgenography to planned treatment was observed in only 34.5% cases; this correspondence was partial in 48.

The tests on rats with experimental pneumonia showed that bemithyl (50 mg/kg, i.p.) reduces lethal outcome frequency, decreases the accumulation of lactate in lung tissues, and impedes activation of lipid peroxidation.

We propose a new method of preventing infectious and inflammatory complications of mandibular fractures crossing the dental arch. The method was based on regional lymphotropic administration of antibacterial drugs to the mastoid region of the temporal bone. This technique was applied in combined therapy of 51 patients.

The paper discusses the results of an investigation of cysteine cathepsin H levels in preneoplastic lesions and tumors of the oral cavity as measured in tissue bioptates and blood plasma. Changes in the levels at different stages have been followed and relevant differences in different groups of patients established.
