Objective: To analyze the local field potentials (LFPs) in patients with focal drug-resistant epilepsy (DRE) from the anterior nucleus of the thalamus (ANT) during inter-ictal state and seizure state.
Method: ANT stereotactic EEG (SEEG) recordings were studied in four patients with focal temporal lobe epilepsy. SEEG data was classified as inter-ictal and ictal state and sub-categorized into electrographic (ESz), focal aware seizure (FAS), focal with impaired awareness (FIA), or focal to bilateral tonic-clonic seizure (FBTC).
Background Patients with drug-resistant epilepsy commonly undergo stereo-electroencephalography (SEEG) intracranial monitoring for surgical evaluation. Our current practice of defining the epileptogenic zone relies heavily on recognizing the seizure onset zone (SOZ), but the clinical significance of interictal epileptiform discharges (IEDs) is not well established. Methodology We retrospectively identified adult patients who underwent SEEG between January 2019 and May 2022.

Background: In the absence of biological markers of preceding attacks of migraine, trigger factors and premonitory symptoms are valuable though methodologically challenging phenomena to study.
Design/methods: We focus on selected studies of retrospective surveys, diary studies, and clinical trials.

The Global Campaign against Headache, directed by the non-governmental organization Lifting The Burden (LTB) in official relations with the World Health Organization (WHO), aspires to reduce the global burden of headache. Ultimately this calls for improvements in headache management, largely in primary care, where most people with headache receive medical care. In support, LTB is developing a range of headache management aids for primary care.

Like human leukocyte antigens class I, human KIR are highly variable and correlated with infection, autoimmunity, pregnancy syndromes, and transplantation outcome. Limiting the scope of KIR analysis is the low resolution, sensitivity, and speed of the established methods of KIR typing.

Although the two species of urodele amphibians belong to separate families, and do not share a direct common ancestor, the level of primary sequence identity for the open reading of the POMC cDNAs was 90% at the amino acid level and 79% at the nucleotide level. It appears that the POMC gene in these urodele amphibians has been accumulating mutations at the amino acid level at a slower rate than the POMC gene in other sarcopterygian orders.

In these experiments incinerator bottom ash with a particle size of less than 8 mm was processed using conventional ceramic production techniques involving wet milling, drying, compacting and sintering. The effect of sintering temperature on the sintered density, microstructure, acid neutralization capacity (ANC) and the release of metal ions as a function of leachate pH are reported.

The mammalian scheme for enkephalinergic networks is not universal for all classes of sarcopterygian vertebrates. In an earlier study, distinct Met- and Leu-enkephalin-positive neurons were detected in the central nervous system (CNS) of the African lungfish, Protopterus annectens.

Ashes were sieved, wet ball milled, dried, compacted and sintered at temperatures between 1080 and 1115 degrees C. Variations in the chemical composition and mineralogy of the milled ash, and the mineralogy, physical properties and leaching of sintered products have been assessed.

The great diversity of these antigen-binding molecules confers differential advantages in responding to pathogens, but presents a major obstacle to distinguishing HLA allele-specific effects. HLA class I supertypes provide a functional classification for the many different HLA alleles that overlap in their peptide-binding specificities.

However, there is concern that inorganic impurities present in the rubber feed may restrict their use in liquid phase applications with high purity requirements. This paper presents an investigation of the presence and the leaching of inorganic species from activated carbons derived from waste tyre rubber.

In Acipenseridae (sturgeons), two isoforms of somatostatin have been characterized to date: somatostatin-14 has been identified from the gastrointestinal tract of the pallid sturgeon Scaphirhynchus albus and [Pro(2)]somatostatin-14 has been identified from the pituitary of the Russian sturgeon Acipenser gueldenstaedti. In the present study, we report the cloning of two distinct somatostatin cDNAs from the brain of the sturgeon Acipenser transmontanus.

Lime-activated pulverised fuel ash (PFA) has been leach tested under a range of pH conditions and the permeability of compacted samples determined using distilled water and aqueous solutions of Ca2+, Zn2+, Cd2+ and Mg2+. Although permeabilities were relatively high when tested with distilled water (> 1x10(-7) m/s), permeation with 0.05M metal solutions resulted in rapid reductions in permeability to less than 1x10(-10) m/s.

The 1,351-bp African lungfish proenkephalin contains an open reading frame that codes 266 amino acids and a stop codon. Within the sequence of lungfish proenkephalin there are 5 pentapeptide opioid sequences (all YGGFM), 1 octapeptide opioid sequence (YGGFMRSL) and 1 heptapeptide opioid sequence (YGGFMGY).

However, the cloning of a full-length proenkephalin cDNA from the CNS of the Australian lungfish indicates that the organization of this precursor is more similar to amphibian proenkephalin than mammalian proenkephalin. The Australian lungfish cDNA is 1284 nucleotides in length and the open reading frame (267 amino acids) contains seven opioid sequences (GenBank #AF232671).
