A study was conducted in poultry houses in Telangana, India over a year, focusing on the presence of mycotoxigenic Penicillium species.
Fourteen species of Penicillium showed mycotoxigenicity, while eight different mycotoxins, primarily ochratoxin A (OTA), were identified in poultry feeds.
The research revealed seasonal patterns in the prevalence of these fungi, suggesting a need for control measures to mitigate the risks associated with mycotoxin contamination in poultry.
