In the current study, a combination of precipitation polymerization and modified sol-gel methods were developed to prepare the novel hyaluronic acid-decorated pH and redox dual-stimuli responsive poly(methacrylic acid)/mesoporous organosilica nanoparticles with a core-shell structure for controlled drug release. The nanocarriers have a proper particle size of <200 nm, high negative zeta potential greater than -30 mV, controllable diameter, and tunable shell thickness. The prepared nanoparticles were able to entrap over 70 % of quercetin with a drug loading of >10 %, due to the mesoporous shell.

The goal of this work was to examine the heat-sensitizing effects of Janus-coated magnetic nanoparticles (JMNPs) as a vehicle for 5-fluorouracil (5-Fu) and Quercetin (Qu) in C6 and OLN-93 cell lines. The cellular uptake of nanoparticles was evaluated using Prussian blue staining and ICP-OES after monolayer culturing of C6 (rat brain cancer cell) and OLN-93 (normal rat brain cell) cells. The cells were treated with free 5-Fu, Qu, and MJNPs loaded with Qu/5-Fu for 24 h, followed by magnetic hyperthermia under an alternating magnetic field (AMF) at a temperature of 43 °C.

Successful cancer treatment using magnetic hyperthermia therapy (MHT) strongly depends on biocompatible magnetic nanoparticles (NPs). This study corresponds to a molecular electron density theory (MEDT) investigation to shed light on the energetics, selectivities, and molecular mechanistic aspects of an experimental domino reaction. Theoretical evidences at the M06-2X/6-31G(d) level indicates that this domino reaction includes three different successive steps and is initialized by a stepwise HCl elimination from precursor chlorohydrazone NPCH to yield nitrile imine NI-2. A subsequent stepwise and highly regioselective [3 + 2] cycloaddition (32CA) reaction of NI-2 toward tetramethylguanidine TMG-3 affords corresponding formal [3 + 2] cycloadduct CA-1 as the sole product.
