Objective: This study assessed the prevalence and impact of moderate and/or severe vasomotor symptoms and related treatment patterns in midlife women in Brazil.

Study Design: Brazilian women aged 40 to 65 years completed an online survey. The prevalence of moderate to severe vasomotor symptoms was assessed in postmenopausal women who completed a series of questionnaires to elicit responses regarding their treatment patterns and attitudes to treatments.

The dysfunction of TAR DNA-binding protein 43 (TDP-43) is implicated in various neurodegenerative diseases, though the specific contributions of its toxic gain-of-function versus loss-of-function effects remain unclear. This study investigates the impact of TARDBP loss on cellular metabolism and viability using human-induced pluripotent stem cell-derived motor neurons and HeLa cells. TARDBP silencing led to reduced metabolic activity and cell growth, accompanied by neurite degeneration and decreased oxygen consumption rates in both cell types.

Entomopathogenic nematodes (EPNs) are ubiquitous soil-thriving organisms that use chemical cues to seek and infect soil-dwelling arthropods, yielding various levels of biological control. Going beyond soil application, scientists and practitioners started exploring the option of applying EPNs onto the foliage of crops in attempts to manage leaf-dwelling insect pests as well. Partially ionized plasmas constitute an essential ingredient of the solar atmosphere, and ground- and space-based observations have pointed out the presence of oscillations in partially ionized solar plasmas such as chromosphere, photosphere, prominences or spicules, which have been interpreted in terms of magnetohydrodynamic waves. Our aim is to study the spatial behaviour of propagating weakly and fully nonlinear Alfvén waves, and the subsequent excitation of field-aligned motions and perturbations, when dissipative mechanisms, such as ambipolar diffusion and radiative losses, together with parametrized heating mechanisms, are taken into account. When only ambipolar diffusion is taken into account, first-order Alfvén waves as well as ponderomotive-driven perturbations are spatially damped, while field-aligned motions and perturbations representing propagating slow waves are undamped.

Women from racial and ethnic minorities are at a higher risk for developing breast cancer. Despite significant advancements in breast cancer screening, treatment, and overall survival rates, disparities persist among Black and Hispanic women. These disparities manifest as breast cancer at an earlier age with worse prognosis, lower rates of genetic screening, higher rates of advanced-stage diagnosis, and higher rates of breast cancer mortality compared to Caucasian women.

High-risk atherosclerotic plaques are characterized by active inflammation and abundant leaky microvessels. We present a self-gated, dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) acquisition with compressed sensing reconstruction and apply it to assess longitudinal changes in endothelial permeability in the aortic root of Apoe atherosclerotic mice during natural disease progression. Twenty-four, 8-week-old, female Apoe mice were divided into four groups (n = 6 each) and imaged with self-gated DCE-MRI at 4, 8, 12, and 16 weeks after high-fat diet initiation, and then euthanized for CD68 immunohistochemistry for macrophages.
