Mpox, formerly known as monkeypox, is a zoonotic disease caused by the Mpox virus (MPXV), which has recently attracted global attention due to its potential for widespread outbreaks. Initially identified in 1958, MPXV primarily spreads to humans through contact with infected wild animals, particularly rodents. Historically confined to Africa, the virus has expanded beyond endemic regions, with notable outbreaks in Europe and North America in 2022, especially among men who have sex with men (MSM).

Rationale And Objectives: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a vital tool for diagnosing neurological disorders, frequently utilising gadolinium-based contrast agents (GBCAs) to enhance resolution and specificity. However, GBCAs present certain risks, including side effects, increased costs, and repeated exposure. This study proposes an innovative approach using generative adversarial networks (GANs) for virtual contrast enhancement in brain MRI, with the aim of reducing or eliminating GBCAs, minimising associated risks, and enhancing imaging efficiency while preserving diagnostic quality.

Article Synopsis
  • Bipolar disorder (BD) is a mental health condition marked by severe mood swings, affecting about 1% of the population, with genetics and environment playing a role in its development.
  • * This study focused on analyzing gene variants in three families with BD using whole-exome sequencing, examining six patients in total.
  • * Researchers identified seven genes potentially linked to BD, including two novel variants, and emphasized the need for larger studies to explore these findings' implications for diagnosis and treatment.

Growth hormone (GH) has a short half-life and declines abruptly following somatotropinoma surgery, enabling its prompt measurement as an indicator of surgical success. This study assesses the predictive value of early postoperative GH levels for 3-month and >1-year remission of acromegaly. We conducted a retrospective search in our database of patients who had undergone transsphenoidal surgery of GH-secreting pituitary adenoma from January 2011 to June 2022.

Background Hashimoto's thyroiditis (HT) is an autoimmune thyroid disease characterized by inflammation and dysfunction of the thyroid gland, resulting in hypothyroidism, it results in impaired thyroid hormone generation and mimics hypothyroidism. The disease involves complex interactions among genetic, environmental, and epigenetic factors, particularly affecting the regulation of T regulatory (Treg) cells, including CD4 + + T cells. Treg cells, defined as CD4 + T cells, rely on the expression of the transcription factor, which is crucial for their development and differentiation.

Objective: This study aimed to assess the diagnostic performance of Tc-sestamibi SPECT/CT and F-choline PET/CT in detecting hyperfunctioning parathyroid glands in patients undergoing surgery for primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT).

Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on patients who underwent PHPT-related surgery between April 2019 and May 2022. The study focused on patients undergoing either Tc-sestamibi SPECT/CT (81 patients) or F-choline PET/CT (33 patients) scans before surgery to pinpoint hyperfunctioning parathyroid gland(s).

Objective: Numerous studies performed worldwide indicate that the public has limited knowledge of anaesthesia practices and anaesthetists' duties and responsibilities. This study aimed to identify the level of knowledge about anaesthetists and anaesthesia practices, and to assess the reasons for anxiety about anaesthesia of the population admitted to our hospital, which is tertiary in Turkey. The secondary aim was to analyze their differences according to sex, education level, and acquired anaesthesia experience.

Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the expression levels of CDH1, FHIT, and TTPAL genes and to determine the genotype and allele frequencies of the IL7Rα gene polymorphism rs6897932 in patients with breast cancer.

Methods: The expression levels of genes and the distribution of the IL7Rα gene polymorphism rs6897932 were analyzed by real-time polymerase chain reaction.

Results: No differences in genotype ratios or allele frequencies were observed between the 2 groups for the IL7Rα gene polymorphism rs6897932.

Robust stability of different types of dynamical neural network models including time delay parameters have been extensively studied, and many different sets of sufficient conditions ensuring robust stability of these types of dynamical neural network models have been presented in past decades. In conducting stability analysis of dynamical neural systems, some basic properties of the employed activation functions and the forms of delay terms included in the mathematical representations of dynamical neural networks are of crucial importance in obtaining global stability criteria for dynamical neural systems. Therefore, this research article will examine a class of neural networks expressed by a mathematical model that involves the discrete time delay terms, the Lipschitz activation functions and possesses the intervalized parameter uncertainties.
