Aim: This study's aims are: 1) To use the Delphi method to determine the level of consensus among hospital pharmacists (HPs) as regards the factors involved in the current approach to patients with atopic dermatitis (AD); 2) To identify potential areas for improvement in hospital pharmacy in terms of dealing with patients with severe AD; and 3) To contribute to adequate pharmaceutical care for patients with AD by drawing up recommendations.

Methods: A two-round Delphi survey with participation from HPs from all over Spain. Three theme-based blocks were set out: 1) AD; 2) Management of patients with severe AD in the Hospital Pharmacy setting; and 3) Unmet needs (pathology, patient, treatment and management).

Article Synopsis
  • Current influenza vaccines often fail to create strong immunity in the lungs because of ineffective delivery methods like injections of inactivated virus.
  • Researchers found that adding silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) to these vaccines significantly reduced viral loads and lung inflammation in mice infected with the flu.
  • AgNPs enhanced the production of specific IgA antibodies, making them a more effective mucosal adjuvant compared to other options, leading to better immune responses and protection against severe flu.

Background: Correct diagnosis of rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder (RBD) is important because it can be the first manifestation of a neurodegenerative disease, it may lead to serious injury, and it is a well-treatable disorder. We evaluated the electromyographic (EMG) activity in the Sleep Innsbruck Barcelona (SINBAR) montage (mentalis, flexor digitorum superficialis, extensor digitorum brevis) and other muscles to obtain normative values for the correct diagnosis of RBD for clinical practice.

Setting: Two university hospital sleep disorder centers.

Contactin-2 was recently identified as an autoantigen targeted by T-cells and autoantibodies in multiple sclerosis (MS). Here we analyzed the frequency of antibodies to contactin-2 (contactin-2-ab) by a cell-based assay in the serum from 105 MS patients and at least 5 years of follow-up (19 clinically isolated syndromes, 51 relapsing-remitting, 20 secondary-progressive, and 15 primary-progressive). Contactin-2-ab were detected in 4 (7.

We present the case of a 41-year-old man with a herniated saccular laryngeal cyst in the left cervical region who died unexpectedly at home from acute asphyxia. A few days before death the patient complained an obvious palpable swelling on the left side of the neck. The autopsy showed an oval-shaped mass originating on the wall of the larynx and herniating into the extralaryngeal region.

Anatomic radical retropubic prostatectomy is an effective method for long-term control of the prostatic carcinoma. In the current era of the anatomic prostatic surgery, blood loss is reduced, complication rate is low and control of the disease may be excellent. Some authors reported cancer-specific survival rate after the radical retropubic prostatectomy of 85-90% over the 10-year period and 82% over the 15-year period.

The admixture ciprofloxacin-metronidazole is nowadays well known as a clinical tool when anaerobic organisms are involved. The stability of ciprofloxacin with metronidazole depends on several variables and this has been scarcely studied. Thus, the aim of this study was the search for a specific, precise and accurate method that would allow the quantification of ciprofloxacin in the presence of metronidazole.

This study of the safety of patients undergoing mechanical ventilation was undertaken to ensure correct ventilation and to find quality-control elements for patients and nursing staff. Differences in mode programming and ventilation parameters and their registry at the change of nursing shifts, and correct programming of the sensitivity and minimum minute volume alarms and maximum airway pressure alarms were examined. In a two-month period, 8 cross-sectional studies were made of G1 prevalence in each of three nursing shifts.
