The role of cap-assisted endoscopy and its future implications.

Cap-assisted endoscopy refers to a procedure in which a short tube made of a polymer (mostly transparent) is attached to the distal tip of the endoscope to enhance its diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities. It is reported to be particularly useful in: (1) minimizing blind spots during screening colonoscopy, (2) providing a constant distance from a lesion for clear visualization during magnifying endoscopy, (3) accurately assessing the size of various gastrointestinal lesions, (4) preventing mucosal injury during foreign body removal, (5) securing adequate workspace in the submucosal space during endoscopic submucosal dissection or third space endoscopy, (6) providing an optimal approach angle to a target, and (7) suctioning mucosal and submucosal tissue with negative pressure for resection or approximation. Here, we review various applications of attachable caps in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy and their future implications.

The purpose of this nationwide longitudinal follow-up study is to investigate the relationship between Parkinson's disease (PD) and congestive heart failure (CHF) patients in Korea. Patient data were collected using the National Health Insurance Service (NHIS) Health Screening (HEALS) cohort. The International Classification of Diseases 10-CM code G-20 distinguished 6475 PD patients who were enrolled in the PD group.

Group A Streptococcus causes a wide range of diseases from relatively mild infections including pharyngitis to more severe illnesses such as invasive diseases and rheumatic heart disease (RHD). Our aim is to estimate the cost-effectiveness of a hypothetical Strep A vaccine on multiple disease manifestations at the global-level. Cost-effectiveness analyses were carried out by building on the potential epidemiological impact of vaccines that align with the WHO's Preferred Product Characteristics for Strep A vaccines.

Glycosylation is a crucial attribute for biotherapeutics with significant impacts on quality, stability, safety, immunogenicity, pharmacokinetics, and efficacy. Therefore, to ensure consistent glycosylation, a systematic review of biotherapeutics is absolutely required including the variable glycan structure (micro-heterogeneity) and different occupancy at individual site (macro-heterogeneity) from drug design to upstream and downstream bioprocesses. Various methods have been used for glyco-characterization of biotherapeutics at the glycan, glycopeptide, and intact protein levels.

The Effectiveness of Game Coding Education on Problematic Internet Gaming.

Objective: Problematic internet gaming in adolescents is associated with various negative outcomes, such as low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, and attention problems. We hypothesized that game coding education, by improving adolescents' self-esteem, would be more effective than game literacy education in mitigating problematic internet gaming.

Methods: A total of 126 adolescents who voluntarily applied for the game coding education and game literacy education program of the "Visiting Game Class" project operated by the Game Cultural Foundation participated in this study.

Global economic burden per episode for multiple diseases caused by group A Streptococcus.

Considering the lack of existing evidence on economic burden for diseases caused by group A Streptococcus, we estimated the economic burden per episode for selected diseases. Each cost component of direct medical costs (DMCs), direct non-medical costs (DNMCs), and indirect costs (ICs) was separately extrapolated and aggregated to estimate the economic burden per episode by income group as classified by the World Bank. Adjustment factors for DMC and DNMC were generated to overcome related data insufficiencies.
