The Genetic Counseling Outcome Scale (GCOS-24) was developed to measure patient-reported outcomes to evaluate the effectiveness of genetic counseling and testing services. In the current study, the Korean version of GCOS (K-GCOS) was developed to reflect the sociocultural characteristics of Korea, and its clinical applicability was assessed. Overall, 231 Koreans, including patients with genetic diseases and their family members, participated and completed the K-GCOS, Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), Multidimensional Health Locus of Control (MHLC) scale, and Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS).

Leafy vegetables are used in various cuisines worldwide; however, as they cannot be peeled and their leaf surface area is large, the risk of retaining pesticide residues on these vegetables is relatively higher than on others. To our knowledge, this is the first comparative study to reveal the effect of removing pesticide residues from five artificially contaminated leafy vegetables (lettuce, perilla leaves, spinach, crown daisy, and ssamchoo (Brassica lee ssp. namai)) using different removal methods.

Objective: The biochemical properties of a putative thermostable cycloisomaltooligosaccharide (CI) glucanotransferase gene from Thermoanaerobacter thermocopriae were determined using a recombinant protein (TtCITase) expressed in Escherichia coli and purified to a single protein.

Results: The 171-kDa protein displayed maximum activity at pH 6.0, and enzyme activity was stable at pH 5.

Cycloisomaltooligosaccharide glucanotransferase (CITase) was isolated from alkaliphilic via an amino acid homology search for the reported CITase. The recombinant alkaliphilic CITase (PDCITase) from was expressed in an expression system and purified as a single protein band of 111 kDa. PDCITase showed optimum activity at pH 8.
