Recently, lithium-sulfur batteries have captivated those in the energy storage industry due to the low cost and high theoretical capacity of the sulfur cathode (1675 mA h g). However, to enhance the practical usability of Li-S batteries, it is crucial to address issues such as the insulating nature of sulfur cathodes and the high solubility of lithium polysulfides (LiPS, LiS , 4 ≤ ≤ 8) that cause poor active sulfur utilization. Designing innovative sulfur hosts can effectively overcome sulfur bottlenecks and achieve stable Li-sulfur batteries.

Purpose: Return to work (RTW) has been understudied in Asian women with cancer, despite the increasing number of breast cancer survivors (BCS). This study examined RTW among Korean BCS, exploring its associations with cancer-related fatigue, quality of sleep, mental adjustment, and psychosocial factors.
Methods: This cross-sectional study recruited BCS from a hospital, a breast cancer support group, and an online community in Korea between July and August 2019.
Chronic back pain (CBP) is a global health concern with significant societal and economic burden. While various predictors of back pain chronicity have been proposed, including demographic and psychosocial factors, neuroimaging studies have pointed to brain characteristics as predictors of CBP. However, large-scale, multisite validation of these predictors is currently lacking.

Significant research has focused on doping third-party elements into representative Li-Argyrodites, which typically consist of a metal cation, a sulfide anion, and a halide. These efforts have generally been limited to doping or substituting a single element at each atomic site in the Argyrodite structure, resulting in, at most, binary combinations at each site. Multi-elemental doping or substitution poses a challenge due to the so-called combinatorial explosion issue.

Methods: To address this, we determined the number of T cells in peripheral blood derived from intensive care COVID-19 patients.
Mechanoluminescence (ML) and digital image correlation (DIC) have emerged as promising optical methods to visualize and measure deformation fields. In this study, a dual-modal sensing skin, called the ML-DIC skin is introduced, that is capable of emitting ML and facilitating DIC measurements under various lighting conditions, including daylight, night or darkness, and UV irradiation. Four ML-DIC skins are fabricated with or without carbon nanotubes (CNTs) using a composite powder consisting of SrAl2O4: Eu,Dy (SAO), and acrylic resin, with CNT milling times of 48, 72, and 96 h for three of four skins, respectively.

However, it is still urgent to develop innovative treatments that can effectively manage refractory patients with unpredictable chronic disease courses. In this study, we evaluated the therapeutic efficacy of 1-palmitoyl-2-linoleoyl-3-acetyl-rac-glycerol (PLAG) as a novel agent for AD treatment using a human-like mouse model of AD.

Person search aims to localize a person of interest in a large image gallery captured by multiple, non-overlapping cameras. Prevalent unified methods have suffered from (1) noisy proposals with mis-detection and occlusion, and (2) large appearance variation within a class, which deteriorates the prototype-based metric learning. To address these problems, we introduce a Prototype-guided Attention Distillation, shortly PAD, which exploits a prototype (a typical representation of an identity) as a guidance to the attention module to consistently highlight identity-inherent regions across different poses.

This class of cfDNA is enriched at gene promoters and binding sites of transcription factors or structural DNA-binding proteins, so that a genome-wide DNA footprint is directly captured from liquid biopsies. In short double-stranded cfDNA from healthy individuals, we find significant enrichment of 203 transcription factor motifs.

This review comprehensively explored the intricate relationship between these two systems, focusing on their influence on immune responses, inflammation, and the pathogenesis of respiratory diseases. Recent studies have demonstrated that gut microbiota dysbiosis can contribute to asthma onset and exacerbation, prompting investigations into therapeutic strategies to correct this imbalance.

Hematopoietic cells and enterocytes are particularly sensitive to radiation due to their self-renewal ability and rapid division, which leads to hematopoietic ARS (H-ARS) and gastrointestinal ARS (GI-ARS). We previously showed that a lipid-based small molecule, 1-palmitoyl-2-linoleoyl-3-acetyl-rac-glycerol (PLAG), improved 30-day survival and alleviated H-ARS symptoms in BALB/c mice after a lethal dose (LD70/30) of gamma-ray TBI.

Neutrophils activate various receptors involved in tumor progression, while suppressing the infiltration and activity of cytotoxic T cells and creating optimal conditions for tumor growth. Therefore, the appropriate control of neutrophil infiltration is an effective strategy for tumor treatment.

FB_MR5 (hereafter MrMR5) recognizes the cysteine protease effector EaAvrRpt2 secreted from the causal agent of bacterial fire blight, Erwinia amylovora. We previously reported that MrMR5 is activated by the C-terminal cleavage product (ACP3) of Malus domestica RIN4 (MdRIN4) produced by EaAvrRpt2-directed proteolysis.

In this work, hierarchical hollow porous structures of nickel (Ni)-doped λ-MnO were prepared a facile, and cost-effective approach, where different amounts of Ni were introduced into MnO structures to tailor their physical and chemical properties. When the prepared Ni-doped MnO hollow structures were studied as anode materials for Li-ion batteries, the electrode showed excellent electrochemical properties, such as stable cyclability and admirable rate capability.

Sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) have emerged as a compelling alternative to lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), exhibiting comparable electrochemical performance while capitalizing on the abundant availability of sodium resources. In SIBs, P2/O3 biphasic cathodes, despite their high energy, require furthur improvements in stability to meet current energy demands. This study introduces a systematic methodology that leverages the meta-heuristically assisted NSGA-II algorithm to optimize multi-element doping in electrode materials, aiming to transcend conventional trial-and-error methods and enhance cathode capacity by the synergistic integration of P2 and O3 phases.

Segmented filamentous bacteria (SFB) are members of the commensal intestinal microbiome. They are known to contribute to the postnatal maturation of the gut immune system, but also to augment inflammatory conditions in chronic diseases such as Crohn's disease. Living primary tissue slices are ultrathin multicellular sections of the intestine and provide a unique opportunity to analyze tissue-specific immune responses ex vivo.
