Various types of liver or hepatic diseases cause the death of about 2 million people worldwide every year, of which 1 million die from the complications of cirrhosis and another million from hepatocellular carcinoma and viral hepatitis. Currently, the second most common solid organ transplant is the liver, and the current rate represents less than 10% of global transplant requests. Hence, finding new approaches to treat and prevent liver diseases is essential.

They were then employed as efficient photocatalysts under visible light to degrade methylene blue and deactivate() and() bacteria. The synthesized powders were characterized using various industry standard techniques and field emission scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis successfully represented the various morphologies of g-CN.

The well-established changes in gut microbiota associated with old age suggest a probable relationship between gut microbiota and frailty.
Methods And Results: This study was aimed at finding the relationship between gut microbiota and frailty syndrome, by comparing the sociodemographic data and the gut microbiota profiles of 23 non-frail and 14 frail elderly individuals.
Background And Aims: Although some reports have confirmed the role of human bocavirus (HBoV) in respiratory infections, the importance of this virus in causing acute gastroenteritis has not yet been proven. This study aimed to determine the molecular prevalence of HBoV in children under 5 years old with gastroenteritis and to compare the clinical symptoms of HBoV-positive and -negative gastroenteritis cases.
Methods: A total of 100 stool samples were collected from children with gastroenteritis hospitalized in a pediatric hospital in Tehran, Iran.
Objective: We determined the molecular prevalence and genotype distribution of human adenovirus (HAdV) among children under five years of age with gastroenteritis in Iran.
Methods: One hundred stool samples from children hospitalized were tested by PCR for adenovirus, and some of the positive samples were sequenced to determine the specific genotype.
Results: HAdV DNA was found in 15 samples (15%).
Background: According to a mounting body of evidence, recent observations have highlighted considerable association between obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) syndrome and patients' obesity and inflammation, however the exact underlying mechanisms remain to be fully understood. In this study, the relationship between OSA and Interleukin-6 and Tumor necrosis factor- alpha was assessed in obese patients and their serum concentrations were compared to non-OSA obese subjects.
Materials And Methods: This case-control study was conducted on forty-six obese OSA patients (body mass indices, BMI30) and 42 obese but otherwise healthy individuals who were admitted to the pulmonary or obesity clinics of the Hazrat-e Rasool General Hospital (Tehran, Iran) between November 2019 and May 2020 were included.
Ample evidence highlights the potential benefits of polyphenols in health status especially in obesity-related metabolic disorders such as insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases. Mechanistically, due to the key role of "Metainflammation" in the pathomechanism of metabolic disorders, recently much focus has been placed on the properties of polyphenols in obesity-related morbidities. This narrative review summarizes the current knowledge on the role of polyphenols, including genistein, chlorogenic acid, ellagic acid, caffeic acid, and silymarin in inflammatory responses pertinent to metabolic disorders and discusses the implications of this evidence for future directions.

We sought to identify the association of CTRP1 and CTRP5 circulating levels with various obesity parameters such as visceral adipose tissue (VAT) thickness, visceral adiposity index (VAI), and with carotid intima-media thickness (cIMT) in patients with T2D and controls.
Methods: This preliminary study consisted of men with T2D (n = 42) and men without T2D (n = 42).
