Transgender and gender-diverse identity in patients with eating disorders: A national cross-sectional study.

Objective: This national study aimed to estimate the prevalence of the transgender and gender-diverse identity and to assess the level of gender congruence, body dissatisfaction and quality of life among patients with eating disorders in Denmark.

Method: Patients with eating disorders were compared to a matched non-clinical comparison group. The survey included the Eating Disorder Examination Questionnaire and assessment of body dissatisfaction, gender congruence and quality of life.

Non-conventional endpoints show higher sulfoxaflor toxicity to Chironomus riparius than conventional endpoints in a multistress environment.

Evidence grows that standard toxicity testing might underestimate the environmental risk of neurotoxic insecticides. Behavioural endpoints such as locomotion and mobility have been suggested as sensitive and ecologically relevant additions to the standard tested endpoints. Possible interactive effects of chemicals and additional stressors are typically overlooked in standardised testing.

Symptomatic uncomplicated gallstone disease is associated with a high short-term risk of gallstone-related complications: a contemporary cohort study.

Background: The natural history of symptomatic uncomplicated gallstone disease is largely unknown. We examined the risk of progressing from symptomatic uncomplicated to complicated gallstone disease in a large regional cohort of patients, where disruptions in elective surgical capacities have led to the indefinite postponement of surgery for benign conditions, including cholecystectomies.

Methods: Patients with radiologically diagnosed incident symptomatic and uncomplicated gallstone disease were identified from outpatient clinics and emergency departments on the Island of Funen, Denmark.

Tobacco Control in Denmark: How the Ugly Duckling Turned into a Swan.

Introduction: The implementation of tobacco control policies has been a neglected topic in tobacco research. A comprehensive Tobacco Action Plan including plain packaging, a point-of-sale display ban, a ban on characterizing flavors (in products other than cigarettes), a strengthening of the promotion and marketing ban, a ban on the sale of novel nicotine products to minors, smoke-and nicotine-free-school hours in all-schools with minors, and a significant increase in tobacco tax, was adopted in Denmark in 2019.

Aims And Methods: Eleven people involved or very close to the advocacy process were invited, two did not respond and nine attended our research center.

Participatory hackathon to determine ecological relevant endpoints for a neurotoxin to aquatic and benthic invertebrates.

The aim of this study is twofold: i) to determine innovative yet sensitive endpoints for sulfoxaflor and ii) to develop best practices for innovative teaching in ecotoxicology. To this end, a group of 52 MSc students participated in an environmental hackathon, during which they did creative toxicity testing on 5 freshwater invertebrate species: Daphnia magna, Chironomus riparius, Asellus aquaticus, Lymnaea stagnalis, and Anisus vortex. Involving the students in an active learning environment stimulated increased creativity and productivity.

A multifaceted approach to assessment of mentalization: the mentalization profile in patients with eating disorders.

: The existing literature, however sparse, suggests an association between eating disorders (ED) and mentalization ability. The aim of this study was to investigate the mentalization profile (MP) in patients with ED. It was hypothesized that patients with ED would have a lower degree of mentalization ability compared to healthy controls (HC).

Influenza Vaccine Type-Dependent Antibody Response in Patients with Autoimmune Inflammatory Rheumatic Diseases.

Background: The study aimed to explore influenza antibody response in patients with autoimmune inflammatory rheumatoid diseases (AIIRDs) stratified by the different vaccine types applied in Denmark during the 2018-2019 influenza season.

Methods: Included patients were diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, or spondyloarthritis receiving biological disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (bDMARDs) with or without conventional synthetic disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs. Influenza vaccination status in the 2018-2019 season and vaccine type received were reviewed in the Denmark.

Introduction: Most adolescent and young adult (youth) smokers and users of novel nicotine products wish to quit. Little is known, at a population level, about youth cessation activities, and the counselor's experiences in working with youth smoking and nicotine product cessation.

Methods: A questionnaire was mailed to all 98 municipalities in Denmark on 31 October 2022.

Implementation fidelity of a smoke-free workplace intervention in a private medical company: A mixed-methods process evaluation.

Introduction: Smoke-free workplaces are considered an important part of tobacco control strategies. The purpose of this study was to evaluate implementation fidelity and explore the significance of social and contextual factors for the implementation of a strict smoke-free workplace intervention in a large Danish medical company.

Methods: The UK Medical Research Council's guidance for process evaluation was used as a framework.

Eating disorder symptomatology among transgender individuals: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Objective: The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to synthesize the literature on eating disorders and eating disorder symptomatology among transgender individuals and to summarize the existing literature on gender-affirming treatment and the prevalence of eating disorder symptomatology.

Method: The literature search for this systematic review and meta-analysis was performed in PubMed, Embase.com, and Ovid APA PsycInfo.

E-cigarette use in global digital youth culture. A qualitative study of the social practices and meaning of vaping among 15-20-year-olds in Denmark, Finland, and Norway.

Background: The introduction of e-cigarettes on the tobacco market has brought new regulatory challenges, and particular concerns relate to e-cigarette uptake among young people. The aim of this study was to explore the use and social meaning of e-cigarettes among Nordic young people and to discuss this in the context of current legislation.

Methods: Thirteen focus groups were conducted with 46 Danish, Finnish, and Norwegian young people (24 boys) with vaping experience aged 15-20 years (mean age 17 years).

Background: A high prevalence of dual use of e-cigarettes and conventional cigarettes has been reported across the world.

Methods: A systematic search was carried out. We included original articles on any topic relevant to health, excluding mental health, in all languages.

Helicobacter cinaedi bacteraemia secondary to enterocolitis in an immunocompetent patient.

Background: Helicobacter cinaedi are motile, gram-negative spiral rods with a natural reservoir in the intestinal tract of hamsters and rhesus monkeys. In humans, H. cinaedi has been reported in different human infections like fever, abdominal pain, gastroenteritis, proctitis, diarrhoea, erysipelas, cellulitis, arthritis, and neonatal meningitis typically diagnosed by positive blood cultures.

High Level of Agreement between Electronic and Paper Mode of Administration of a Thyroid-Specific Patient-Reported Outcome, ThyPRO.

Introduction And Purpose: Use of electronic questionnaires to collect health-related quality-of-life data has evolved as an alternative to paper questionnaires. For the electronic questionnaire to be used interchangeably with the validated paper questionnaire, measurement properties similar to the original must be demonstrated. The aim of the present study was to assess the equivalence between the paper version and the electronic version of the thyroid-related quality-of-life questionnaire ThyPRO.

Expression and localization of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors and nuclear factor kappaB in normal and lesional psoriatic skin.

Abnormal epidermal proliferation and differentiation characterize the inflammatory skin disease psoriasis. Here we demonstrate that expression of PPARdelta mRNA and protein is markedly upregulated in psoriatic lesions and that lipoxygenase products accumulating in psoriatic lesions are potent activators of PPARdelta. The expression levels of NF-kappaB p50 and p65 were not significantly altered in lesional compared with nonlesional psoriatic skin.
