Article Synopsis
  • This study examines how teachers implement communication strategies and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) to support students with intellectual disabilities (ID) after receiving intervention training (AKKtiv ComPal).
  • Video observations before and after the intervention at four schools showed an increase in the use of communication boards and strategies that aid student interaction, although consistency in these practices varied among teachers and settings.
  • Factors such as classroom setup, teachers' prior experience with AAC, and student characteristics influenced how well strategies were applied, indicating a need for ongoing support and follow-up for better implementation.
