High-intensity interval training (HIIT) is one of the most debated methods involving several parameters that could be modulated, but the long-term adaptations it induces are still unclear. This investigation aimed to evaluate the efficacy of running and whole-body exercises with high-intensity (>80% heart rate) short intervals (30 s) in body composition and physical performance and compare the effects between groups with active (AR) or passive recovery (PR), both in males and females. : Eighteen trained young adults (55.

Background And Purpose: Acetylcholine receptor antibody (AChR-Ab) detection is crucial in myasthenia gravis (MG) diagnosis and, currently, the radioimmunoassay (RIA) is the gold standard. However, RIA may detect AChR-Ab against nonpathogenic intracellular epitopes. In this study, we performed fixed cell-based assay (F-CBA) in RIA-AChR-Ab positive subjects without MG symptoms, to assess whether F-CBA could show a higher specificity compared to RIA in detecting pathogenic Abs.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the occurrence of cancer in patients with muscle-specific kinase myasthenia gravis (MuSK-MG) and looks into how MuSK IgG forms.
  • Researchers found MuSK expression in cancer cells from specific tumors, including primary mediastinal B cell lymphoma and endometrial carcinoma.
  • Out of 94 patients, 15 cancers were reported in 13 individuals (13.8%), with cancer patients being significantly older when MuSK-MG symptoms began.

Regular physical activity (PA) is protective and reduces disease burden but remains a challenge for pregnant women (PW). According to the World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines, PW without contraindications should practice 150 min of moderate PA per week. Nonetheless, PA levels are concerningly low among PW.

Purpose: We compared two different strategies providing professional coaching to administer an exercise program for women with postmenopausal osteoporosis (POP): individual training (IT) at home with trainer's supervision provided by telephone contacts at regular time-intervals or group training (GT) with trainer's live supervision. Our working hypothesis was that IT is a valid alternative to GT when GT is not feasible.

Patients And Methods: This was a single-blind, randomized study.

Article Synopsis
  • - **Study Overview**: The research examined the effects of an adapted physical activity (APA) program on post-menopausal women with osteoporotic vertebral fractures, focusing on bone turnover biomarkers, functional capacity, and fall risk.
  • - **Methodology**: Participants (12 in APA group, 9 in control) engaged in a 1-hour exercise session twice a week for 6 months, while the control group maintained their usual lifestyle.
  • - **Results**: The APA program did not change bone turnover biomarkers but led to significant improvements in walking capacity and reduced fall risk and fear among participants compared to the control group.

In the last few years, interest about the natural environment and its influences on health conditions has been growing. In particular, physical activity interventions carried out in blue and green environment are being investigated as a potential strategy to increase health outcomes in people with and without chronic conditions. Many recent studies reported positive results, but a high number of these studies were focused on people with mental or physical disorders.

Following recent discoveries, diagnostic criteria for paraneoplastic neurological syndromes (PNS) have been recently updated. However, how the criteria impact PNS diagnosis is still unclear. We retrospectively applied the previously existing 2004 criteria (2004-c) and the updated 2021 diagnostic criteria (2021-c) to 74 patients with suspect PNS.

Core exercises have been widely promoted in the last 25 years. However, the scientific debate about its efficacy for improving individual and team sports performance is still open. Thus, the present study aims to investigate the effects of circuit training with a core exercise program on physical performance in competitive amateur soccer players.

Many benefits of physical activity (PA) are observed with weekly average volumes of 150-300 min at moderate intensity. Public parks may be an attraction for many people living in the city and could help to achieve the recommended dose of PA. The present study aims to understand the motivation that drives people to a park and evaluate the amount of PA practiced by park-goers.

Objective: The present systematic review aimed to investigate the impact of school-based physical activity (PA) interventions of "active breaks" on PA levels, classroom behaviour, cognitive functions, and well-being in pre-adolescents and adolescents attending secondary and high school.

Methods: In March 2021, we performed a systematic research in CINAHL, Cochrane Library, Embase, MedLine, and PsycINFO databases and through grey literature. Quality assessment was performed in accordance with the Cochrane Tool for Quality Assessment for RCTs and the STROBE tool for observational studies.

Practicing regular physical activity in green spaces has been invocated as a promising strategy for improving wellbeing in urban settings. The aim of the study was to assess the effect of a structured park-based physical activity intervention, the “Moving Parks” project, on citizens’ wellbeing at the time of COVID-19. The intervention was carried out in six public parks in Bologna (Italy) and administered by qualified instructors (from May 2021 to September 2021).

Social distancing measures adopted to face the COVID-19 pandemic had a detrimental impact on adolescent education and their interaction with peers and adults, secondary to the limitation of school and recreational activities, with repercussions on social and sexual life. The “Come te la passi?” (“How is it going?”) study, performed in the Metropolitan City of Bologna (Italy), aimed at investigating the type of information sources adopted by adolescents for their sexual and reproductive health (SRH) knowledge and education, the age of their sexual debut, and the way in which the COVID-19 pandemic affected their relationships and sexual life in order to help local health care professionals and educators designing SRH education programs. A purposely designed online survey was administered during the COVID-19 pandemic to 378 high school students (age > 14 yo) in July 2021.

Objectives: In this retrospective multicenter study, we evaluated the safety of SARS-CoV-2 vaccination in patients harboring autoantibodies targeting neuronal surface and/or synaptic antigens.

Methods: From eight Italian Neurology Units, we included patients with: a) serum and/or CSF positivity for specific neuronal autoantibodies; b) a compatible neurological syndrome; and c) available follow-up ≥6 weeks after vaccination with any of the approved SARS-CoV-2 vaccines. Demographics, clinical data, and information regarding previous SARS-CoV-2 infection and vaccination were collected.

Evidence shows that exercise can have a favourable effect in cancer patients. The exercise's clinical benefits are likely to concern multiple interrelated biological pathways, among which oxidative stress plays a key role. Regular training can induce an adaptive response that strengthens the antioxidative status of the body.

Obesity and physical inactivity are global health problems responsible for the risk increment of noncommunicable diseases. To overcome these problems, interventions aimed at increasing physical activity (PA) are necessary. Green space can have a positive influence on promoting PA, so, the aim of the present study was to assess the effectiveness of the project "The moving parks project", which provides for the administration of PA to citizens within Bologna's parks (Italy).

Childhood obesity is an established health problem, and there is a growing need for health promotion interventions focused on healthy behaviors in collaboration with parents and schools. The Mediterranean diet (MD) could help to tackle obesity, but it is essential to maintain a good level of physical activity (PA) and limit time spent in sedentary activities (ST). To explore family determinants, adherence to the MD and PA levels as potential predictors of a child's health-related behaviors, we performed a cross-sectional analysis of 368 Italian primary school children with a mean age of 8.
