Background: Rectal cancer (RC) is a surgical challenge due to its technical complexity. The double-stapled (DS) technique, a standard for colorectal anastomosis, has been associated with notable drawbacks, including a high incidence of anastomotic leak (AL). Low anterior resection with transanal transection and single-stapled (TTSS) anastomosis has emerged to mitigate those drawbacks.

Background: Patients with thyroid carcinoma often undergo cervical lymph node dissection, which is associated with high rates of both transient and permanent postoperative hypoparathyroidism. The impact of near-infrared fluorescence imaging + indocyanine green (ICG) fluorescence on postoperative hypoparathyroidism rates after total thyroidectomy and central neck lymph node dissection was evaluated.
Methods: All patients undergoing surgery between January 2019 and March 2023 were included and divided into three groups: a control group (parathyroid glands identified visually), a near-infrared fluorescence imaging alone group, and a near-infrared fluorescence imaging + ICG fluorescence group.
An inflammatory fibroid polyp is a rare benign submucosal lesion frequently located in the gastric antrum but it may be found anywhere in the gastrointestinal tract with maximal incidence in the fifth and sixth decades of life. The main histological characteristics are diffuse inflammatory infiltrate with eosinophils, high vascularisation and a myofibroblastic component. Its localisation in the small bowel can cause intestinal invagination in adults, a condition, that occurs most frequently in childhood where, however, it is generally not related to a pathological lesion.

Over a period of three years, a total of 51 patients were referred for ultrasound examination with clinically suspected occult inguinal hernia. Patients with positive US scans were offered surgery, while those with negative US findings were offered further imaging or other diagnostic tests.

After discussing the diagnostic methods for a correct preoperative diagnosis, they address the surgical technique they used for removal of the lesion.

They are usually solitary, circumscribed and encapsulated lesions eccentrically located on proximal nerves or spinal nerve roots. Presentation is typically varied and non-specific, ranging from abdominal pain, an abdominal mass or an incidental finding.

The present study analyzed the effect of increasing the atorvastatin dose to 80 mg/day on indices of inflammation (C-reactive protein or CRP), thrombogenesis (prothrombin fragment [F1+2]) and fibrinolysis (tissue-type plasminogen activator antigen, t-PA, and its inhibitor PAI-1) in high-risk patients with ischemic heart disease.
Patients And Method: We studied 27 patients with high-risk coronary heart disease who had lipid levels above those recommended despite treatment with atorvastatin at 40 mg/day.
