Background: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has a superior sensitivity for the diagnosis of breast cancer, leading to lesions primarily detected by MRI. Some of these lesions cannot be identified by targeted second-look ultrasound (SLUS) examinations and are thus referred to as MRI-only lesions. We hypothesize that biologically more aggressive cancers lead to more distinct tissue damage improving visibility on SLUS.

Article Synopsis
  • The study evaluates the safety and effectiveness of controlled ovarian stimulation (COS) and oocyte retrieval (OR) in prepubertal and peripubertal patients who are seeking oocyte cryopreservation.
  • Researchers reviewed data from 20 patients aged approximately 15, assessing ovarian function through hormone levels and follicle counts, and found no complications related to the procedures.
  • Results showed a mean retrieval of 5 oocytes, with a maturation rate of 75%, and highlighted the positive relationship between antral follicle count and the number of retrieved oocytes.

The rapid evolution of artificial intelligence (AI), particularly in deep learning, has significantly impacted radiology, introducing an array of AI solutions for interpretative tasks. This paper provides radiology departments with a practical guide for selecting and integrating AI solutions, focusing on interpretative tasks that require the active involvement of radiologists. Our approach is not to list available applications or review scientific evidence, as this information is readily available in previous studies; instead, we concentrate on the essential factors radiology departments must consider when choosing AI solutions.

Aim: This study aimed to assess the predictive role of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio, platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio, lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio, and mean platelet volume, on catheter survival in chronic hemodialysis patients, analyzing both infectious and non-infectious complications.

Methods: A retrospective analysis encompassed 1279 tunneled catheter insertion procedures involving 902 patients between March 2014 and October 2018. Patients were categorized into two main groups: (i) initial placement and (ii) exchange.

Objective: Preoperative assessment of the cochlear duct length (CDL) and cochlear dimensions allows the selection of optimized implants. We aimed to evaluate the CDL measurements in incomplete partition (IP) defect patients and to create a reference to the literature.

Methods: Forty-one patients with IP (13 IP I, 23 IP II, and 5 IP III) and 30 controls were included in the study.

Objectives: The purpose of the study was to evaluate cochlea dimensions by the multiplanar reconstruction of high-resolution computed tomography that could be useful in diagnosing incomplete partition (IP) malformations.

Methods: This study included 32 patients with 64 side cochleae diagnosed with IP defect and 38 cochleae as the control without any defect. Basal turn length (BL), cochlear height (CH), Mid-apical length (MAL), Mid-apical height, Cochlear length (A), and Cochlear width (B) were measured on reformat images.

Background: A valid measure to describe the most important needs and concerns of people with life-threatening illnesses is missing in Cyprus. Our aim was to adapt and test the cross-cultural validity and responsiveness of the Integrated Palliative care Outcome Scale (IPOS) in a cohort of Turkish speaking cancer patients.

Methods: The IPOS (English) patient-reported measure was translated into Turkish following published guidelines including, 2 independent forward, 2 independent blind backward translations, expert panel review by 7 members and field testing with 11 cognitive interviews (5 patients and 6 specialists) and final approval of the copyright holder.

Background: Patients' demographic and epidemiological characteristics, local variations in clinicians' knowledge and experience and types of surgery can influence peri-operative transfusion practices. Sharing data on transfusion practices and recipients may improve patients' care and implementation of Patient Blood Management (PBM).

Materials And Methods: This was a multicentre, prospective, observational, cross-sectional study that included 61 centres.

Objective: The aim was to compare coronary high-definition CT (HDCT) with standard-definition CT (SDCT) angiography as to radiation dose, image quality and accuracy.

Material And Methods: 28 patients with history of coronary artery disease scanned by HDCT (Discovery CT750 HD) and SDCT (Somatom Definition AS). The scan modes were both axial prospective ECG-triggered.

Background: H1N1 influenza A virus infections were first reported in April 2009 and spread rapidly, resulting in mortality worldwide. The aim of this study was to evaluate patients with H1N1 infection treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) in Bursa, Turkey.

Methods: Demographic characteristics, clinical features, and outcome relating to H1N1 infection were retrospectively analysed in patients treated in the ICU.

Background: Surgical site infections adversely affect patients' well-being. In this study, hand-washing details and adherence to surgical site antisepsis applications among surgical staff were observed and recorded. Then, a questionnaire was given to test surgeons' theoretical knowledge on operating room principles.

The deltoid free flap is a thin, reliable flap that is easily dissected from the posterolateral arm. It has large-caliber vessels and is capable of sensory reinnervation to portions of the flap above the deltoid/triceps groove through the lateral brachial cutaneous nerve. There is little sensory return to the large vascular territory, which can be extended inferiorly below the deltoid triceps groove.

Although herbal remedies are marketed as natural products, they can be associated with severe adverse effects. We report a case of multi-organ toxicity including acute renal failure due to rhabdomyolysis, acute hepatitis-like hepatotoxicity, and cardiotoxicity accompanied by angio-edema in a Turkish male patient after ingestion of mixed Chinese herbs. Hypersensitivity reactions may be a possible mechanism of pathogenesis in multi-organ toxicity associated with phytotherapy.

The gluteal perforator-based flap is designed according to the localisation of sacral perforator vessels. These vessels penetrate the gluteus maximus muscle and reach the intrafascial and suprafascial planes, and the overlying skin forming a rich vascular plexus. The gluteal perforator-based flaps described in this paper are highly-vascularised, have minimal donor site morbidity, do not require the sacrifice of the gluteus maximus muscle and rarely lead to post-operative complications.
