This paper evaluates the use of CO2 laser peeling as an isolated procedure or associated with the 'round lifting' technique for correction of the aging face. This technique, as described by the senior author, allows for the treatment of signs of facial aging while maintaining anatomical structures. The article reviews the philosophy and evolution of the classical surgical procedures in an overall experience of 7477 patients operated on at the Ivo Pitanguy Clinic, and emphasizes how the CO2 laser resurfacing has enhanced the aesthetic result in selected cases.

After a brief introduction about the clinical, histological and therapeutic characteristics of myxopapillar spinal ependymoma of cone medullar and filum terminale, three cases with medullar and intracranial seeding of myxopapillar spinal ependymoma are retrospectively reviewed. Surgical resection was total in the child and partial in the adult cases and the histological results were myxopapillar. The diagnosis was made by CT and MRI between 1-2 months before surgical treatment.

The authors describe a novel fluoroscopically guided transnasal technique for removal of an endoscopically placed endobiliary prosthesis (EBP). A case in which the approach was applied is used to demonstrate its indications, clinical utility and possible benefits. The procedure entails simultaneous percutaneous replacement of the EBP with an internal/external biliary catheter over a through-and-through transhepatic/transnasal access wire.

We report a patient in whom we used a puncture needle to initiate percutaneous recanalization of a chronic occlusion of the junction between the right subclavian vein and the right brachiocephalic vein. Under fluoroscopic guidance, an 18-gauge needle was used to puncture the right subclavian vein. When contrast material injected through the needle confirmed intravascular location, the needle was advanced until it deflected and perforated an occlusion balloon target positioned within the right brachiocephalic vein.
