Molecular-profiling-based cancer diagnosis has significant implications for predicting disease prognosis and selecting targeted therapeutic interventions. The analysis of cancer-derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) provides a noninvasive and sequential method to assess the molecular landscape of cancer. Here, we developed an all-in-one fusogenic nanoreactor (FNR) encapsulating DNA-fueled molecular machines (DMMs) for the rapid and direct detection of EV-associated microRNAs (EV miRNAs) in a single step.

While the assembly of DNA nanostructures from small (nanometer-scale) monomeric components has been studied extensively, how the hierarchical assembly of rigid or semi-flexible units produces multi-micron scale structures is less understood. Here we demonstrate a mechanism for assembling micron-scale semi-flexible DNA nanotubes into extended structures.

Therefore, more sensitive, non-invasive, and simple screening tools are required for the early diagnosis and monitoring of AD. Here, we design a self-assembled nanoparticle-mediated amplified fluorogenic immunoassay (SNAFIA) consisting of magnetic and fluorophore-loaded polymeric nanoparticles.

This study developed a pore-connected PP-CA membrane by coating cellulose acetate onto a polypropylene filter. A new method was proposed to attach a CA/glycerin coating layer to a porous PP support without a separate binder. The pores of CA and PP were interconnected using a vacuum filtration device.

We employed a non-solvent induced phase separation (NIPS) method, utilizing cellulose acetate (CA) in conjunction with citric acid to fabricate these membranes. Citric acid played a dual role: ensuring a uniform pore structure and cross-linking the CA polymer, thereby enhancing its mechanical strength.

The steroid hormone ecdysone plays a critical role in insect development by regulating the expression of various genes. In this study, we found that fat body-specific expression of miR-276a, an ecdysone-responsive microRNA (miRNA), led to a decrease in the total mass of the larval fat body, resulting in significant growth reduction in Drosophila.

During development, BMs undergo alterations through diverse intrinsic and extrinsic regulatory mechanisms; however, the full complement of pathways controlling these changes remain unclear. Here, we found that fat body-overexpression of , which is highly expressed during the larval-to-pupal transition, resulted in a decrease in the overall size of the larval fat body, and ultimately, in a severe growth defect accompanied by a reduction in cell proliferation and cell size.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAfrican swine fever virus (ASFV) is a severe and persistent threat to the global swine industry. As there are no vaccines against ASFV, there is an immense need to develop easy-to-use, cost-effective, and rapid point-of-care (POC) diagnostic platforms to detect and prevent ASFV outbreaks. Here, a novel POC diagnostic system based on affinity column chromatography for the optical detection of ASFV is presented.

Avian influenza virus (AIV) causes acute infectious diseases in poultry, critically impacting food supply. Highly pathogenic avian influenza viruses (HPAIVs), in particular, cause morbidity and mortality, resulting in significant economic losses in the poultry industry. To prevent the spread of HPAIVs, detection at early stages is critical to implement effective countermeasures such as quarantine and isolation.

The response of the phenological events of individual species to climate change is not isolated, but is connected through interaction with other species at the same or adjacent trophic level. Using long-term phenological data observed since 1976 in Korea, whose temperature has risen more steeply than the average global temperature, this study conducted phenological analysis (differ-ences in the phenology of groups, differences in phenological shifts due to climate change, differ-ences in phenological sensitivity to climate by groups, and the change of phenological day differ-ences among interacting groups). The phenological shift of the producer group (plants) was found to be negative in all researched species, which means that it blooms quickly over the years.
