Purpose: Individuals with metastatic breast cancer (MBC) may live with their disease for many years. We initiated the Johns Hopkins Hope at Hopkins Clinic to assess the needs and optimize the care of these patients.

Patients And Methods: Patients with MBC who agreed to participate in the Clinic in addition to usual care completed patient-reported outcome (PRO) surveys.

Methods: We considered an LMIC and a high-income country (HIC) population to derive XGBoost classifiers to predict low birth weight (LBW) from a comprehensive set of maternal and fetal characteristics including socio-demographic, past and current pregnancy information, fetal biometry and fetoplacental Doppler measurements.

Search for Soft Unclustered Energy Patterns in Proton-Proton Collisions at 13 TeV.

The first search for soft unclustered energy patterns (SUEPs) is performed using an integrated luminosity of 138  fb^{-1} of proton-proton collision data at sqrt[s]=13  TeV, collected in 2016-2018 by the CMS detector at the LHC. Such SUEPs are predicted by hidden valley models with a new, confining force with a large 't Hooft coupling. In events with boosted topologies, selected by high-threshold hadronic triggers, the multiplicity and sphericity of clustered tracks are used to reject the background from standard model quantum chromodynamics.

Background: In 2021, European radiology and gastrointestinal societies updated their guidelines regarding the management of gallbladder polyps (GBP). In 2022, the Society of Radiologists in Ultrasound (SRU) also released their guidelines. We compared the two sets to determine the differences in management and outcomes for GBPs.

Immune responses drive chorioretinitis and retinal pathology after neonatal CMV infection.

Human cytomegalovirus (CMV) causes a common congenital infection leading to long-term neurological impairments including brain, cochlear, and ocular pathology. Infection of newborn mice with murine (M)CMV is an established model of neuropathology caused by congenital CMV infection, with recent work suggesting that brain pathology may be driven by immune responses. In the eye, however, CMV retinitis is thought to result from virus-driven necrosis in the absence of T cell responses.

Few studies describe approaches that intentionally and simultaneously address these issues.

Hand therapy interventions for the prevention of chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy of the hands in patients with pancreatic cancer.

Background: Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN), a common problem, can impair function and quality of life in patients, potentially limiting chemotherapy and adversely affecting outcomes.

Methods: This trial compared investigational hand therapy intervention (Investigational) compared with a traditional occupational therapy approach (Traditional) to prevent CIPN in patients with pancreatic cancer receiving gemcitabine and albumin-bound paclitaxel containing regimens.

A ten-year overview of cancer genetic family history screening in Georgia's Latina population.

Background: Population-based cancer genetic family history (FH) screening to identify families at high risk for BRCA-associated cancers has been endorsed by national public health policies. This report aimed to describe the utilization of FH screening services from 2013 to 2022 according to rurality and socioeconomic deprivation among Latinas in Georgia.

Methods: Women who attended a medical appointment at participating Georgia Public Health Clinics were invited to complete FH screening.

Correlation of Processing and Structure in an Ethylene-Glycol Side-Chain Modified Polythiophene via Combined X-Ray Scattering and 4D Scanning Transmission Electron Microscopy.

The results of a combined grazing incidence wide-angle X-ray scattering (GIWAXS) and 4D scanning transmission microscopy (4D-STEM) analysis of the effects of thermal processing on poly(3[2-(2-methoxyethoxy)ethoxy]-methylthiophene-2,5-diyl) are reported, a conjugated semiconducting polymer used as the active layer in organic electrochemical transistor devices. GIWAXS provides a measure of overall crystallinity in the film, while 4D-STEM produces real-space maps of the morphology and orientation of individual crystallites along with their spatial extent and distribution. The sensitivity of the 4D-STEM detector allows for collection of electron diffraction patterns at each position in an image scan while limiting the imparted electron dose to below the damage threshold.

Investigation of the Synthesis and Energetic Properties of an ANTA-Based Energetic Plasticizer.

Energetic plasticizers are being sought for their use in energetic formulations when combined with explosives. An energetic plasticizer based on the insensitive highly explosive 3-amino-5-nitro-l,2,4-triazole (ANTA) was synthesized and characterized by spectroscopy, X-ray crystallography, thermal analyses, and safety testing. Lastly, density functional theory calculations were employed to examine the observed selectivity among the three nucleophilic ring nitrogen atoms of ANTA toward electrophiles such as ANTA acrylate; this selectivity was found to be a combination of steric, electronic, and hydrogen bonding effects.
