Construction of an encapsulated ESAT-6-based anti-TB DNA vaccine and evaluation of its immunogenic properties.

Experimental preparations based on a DNA vaccine encoding the ESAT-6 antigen of Mycobacterium tuberculosis have been obtained (KpONE6) and studied for immunogenic effects in the murine model. The core of the preparation contains DNA of the recombinant plasmid pONE6 encapsulated within a spermidine-polyglucin conjugate, thereby protecting the DNA vaccine from degradation. KpONE6 induces a proliferative T-cell immune response in mice upon intramuscular immunization.

[The use of cryosupernatant plasma in complex treatment of pancreonecrosis].

Comparative study of results of complex treatment of pancreonecrosis in 60 patients using cryosupernatant plasma (CSNP) and fresh frozen plasma was carried out. Better positive dynamics in some laboratory indices, less lethality and better outcomes were marked with use of CSNP. It can be used instead of fresh frozen plasma in complex treatment of pancreonecrosis and concomitant DIC syndrome.

Increase in sex-dependent expression of prolactin receptors after intrahepatic transplantation of H27 rat hepatoma cells.

Immunohistochemical study revealed overexpression of prolactin receptors in central and peripheral cells of intrahepatic grafts from H27 rat hepatoma without changes in compartmentalization compared to hepatocytes of intact animals. In order to clarify the role of the central nervous system in the genesis of arterial hypertension (AH) a population analysis of somatic pathology in schizophrenia was performed. Using clinical and postmortem data, the study found lower frequency of AH among mental patients vs. somatic ones; primary AH was benign independently of the psychotropic therapy regimen.

JAK-STAT pathway in carcinogenesis: is it relevant to cholangiocarcinoma progression?

The features of JAK-STAT signaling in liver cells are discussed in the current review. The role of this signaling cascade in carcinogenesis is accentuated. The possible involvement of this pathway and alteration of its elements are compared for normal cholangiocytes, cholangiocarcinoma predisposition and development.

[Rehabilitation of orthopedic patients after hip replacement].

A comparative analysis of the treatment of 120 patients after endoprosthesis for degenerative-destructive diseases of the hip joint was carried on. All the patients were divided into two groups: the main group included 74 patients who underwent a full course of rehabilitation, the control group consisted of 46 patients without rehabilitation. The results of a comparative assessment of the static-dynamic function in the two groups of patients after operation of endoprosthesis have shown the inclusion of an obligatory program of rehabilitation to be expedient for the restorative treatment in addition to the operation of endoprosthesis.

Direct XUV probing of attosecond electron recollision.

We demonstrate that the recolliding electron wave packet, fundamental to many strong field phenomena, can be directly imaged with sub-A spatial and attosecond temporal resolution using attosecond extreme ultraviolet (XUV) pulses. When the recolliding electron revisits the parent ion, it can absorb an XUV photon yielding high energy electron and thereby providing a measurement of the electron energy at the moment of recollision. The full temporal evolution of the recollision wave packet can be reconstructed by measuring the photoelectron spectra for different time delays between the driving laser and the attosecond XUV probe.

[Experimental studies of the relative biological effectiveness of accelerated charged particles varying in energy].

Experimental results and literary data were analyzed for the relative biological effectiveness of heavy charged particles in a broad range of energy and LET to cells of humans and other mammals in culture, whole body of laboratory animals, microorganisms, bacteriophages, and plants. Analyzed were data obtained with the use of a diversity of tests of acute and delayed lesions induced by ionizing radiation, cancers and cataracts, specifically. Non-parametric methods are applied in parallel to the classic method of calculating the coefficients of relative biological effectiveness by correlating the equal-effective doses of the standard and a given radiation.

[Characterization of the biological properties of acid-treated chrysotile-asbestos fibers].

Boiling of chrysotile of the textile brand PRZh1-50 in concentrated hydrochloric acid for 10, 15, and 20 minutes gave rise to three chrysotile-asbestos samples. The content of MgO decreased from to 24, 19, and 9%, respectively. As compared with the baseline values, the number and force of positively charged electrical centers were less in the samples containing 24 and 19% MgO and more in the sample having 9% MgO; the negatively charged centers were present in the former two samples and absent in the third one.

Overexpression of prolactin receptors during intrahepatic transplantation of RS1 rat cholangiocellular carcinoma cells.

Immunohistochemical study showed that expression of prolactin receptors in intrahepatically transplanted cells of RS1 cholangiocellular carcinoma 2-fold exceeds that in cholangiocytes of intact rats. The number of prolactin receptors significantly increased in tumor cell nuclei of male and female animals. [Statistical analysis of nucleosome formation sites].

The prediction of the DNA capacity to form nucleosome structure based on sequence statistics is of importance in the analysis of gene expression regulation in eukaryotes. A context analysis of nucleotide sequences of experimentally defined sites of nucleosome formation made it possible to determine the sequence preference for nucleosome formation on the basis of statistical information. An improved version of the Markov model was developed to predict the preference of DNA sequences to be within a nucleosome structure.

[Effect of anesthesia and anticoagulant prophylaxis on the occurrence of postoperative thromboembolic complications in orthopedic patients].

Different prevention regimens of venous thromboembolism, by using the low molecular-weight heparin Fraxiparin, were studied in 152 patients who had undergone major orthopedic leg surgery under spinal and general anesthesia. The regimens differed in the time of Fraxiparin administration (before or after surgery). Fraxiparin and spinal anesthesia were found to promote the lower incidence of venous thromboembolism.
