A new synthetisis method of Cu-doped ZnO nanoparticles is presented in this work, this novel approach allow one to produce Zinc oxide nanocristal owing to a modified Polyol process that makes use of triethyleneglycol (TREG) as a solvent. The structure and morphology of the nanoparticles were characterized by high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), N adsorption study, UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy and Raman spectroscopy. The lightly doped ZnCuO photocatalysts consisted in a novel nanorods structure of ZnCuO nanoparticles.

The increased use of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) in several applications has led to a rise in concerns about their potential toxicity to aquatic organisms. In addition, toxicity of nanoparticles to aquatic organisms is related to their physical and chemical properties. In the present study, we synthesize two forms of gold octahedra nanoparticles (Au_ and Au_) in 1.

We report on the facile and low-temperature one-pot chemical synthesis of lightly doped Zn Cu O and hybrid Au-Zn Cu O photocatalysts with low Cu molar content (0 < x < 0.7%) using 1,3-propanediol polyol simultaneously as solvent, reducing and a stabilizing agent, without any final thermal treatment. The photocatalysts have been characterized by X-ray diffraction, N adsorption study, UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy, and transmission electron microscopy.

Toxicity of superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPION) was investigated in Lemna gibba plants exposed for 7 days to Fe3O4 (SPION-1), Co0.2Zn0.8Fe2O4 (SPION-2), or Co0.

We examined the effects of iron oxide nanoparticles (IONPs) on mitochondrial respiratory chain complexes activities and mitochondrial coupling in young (3 months) and middle-aged (18 months) rat liver, organ largely involved in body iron detoxification. Isolated liver mitochondria were extracted using differential centrifugations. Maximal oxidative capacities (V(max), complexes I, III, and IV activities), V(succ) (complexes II, III, and IV activities), and V tmpd, (complex IV activity), together with mitochondrial coupling (V(max)/V0) were determined in controls conditions and after exposure to 250, 300, and 350 μ g/ml Fe3O4 in young and middle-aged rats.

The present study evaluates the effects of iron oxide nanoparticles (ION) on mitochondrial respiratory chain complexes activities in five organs characterized by different oxidative capacities and strongly involved in body detoxification. Isolated mitochondria were extracted from brain, heart, lung, liver and kidneys in twelve Wistar rats (8 weeks) using differential centrifugations. Maximal oxidative capacities (Vmax), mitochondrial respiratory chain complexes activity using succinate (Vsucc, complexes II, III, and IV activities) or N, N, N', N'-tetramethyl-p-phenylenediaminedihydrochloride (tmpd)/ascorbate (Vtmpd, complex IV activity) and, mitochondrial coupling (Vmax/Vo) were determined in controls and after exposure to 100, 200, 300 and 500μg/ml Fe3O4.

Superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles, Fe(3)O(4) and gamma-Fe(2)O(3), were produced by the so-called polyol process. In order to stabilize the particles in a physiological environment as potential contrast agents for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), the as-prepared particles were successfully transferred to an aqueous medium through ligand exchange chemistry of the adsorbed polyol species with the dopamine or the catechaldehyde. The ligands were able to participate in bidentate binding to the nanoparticles surface and to improve the stability of aqueous suspensions of the nanoparticles.

The infrared and polarized Raman spectra of the trigonal Li(6)P(6)O(18).3H(2)O crystal are reported. The results are analysed using several group theory approaches, in terms of internal and external modes of the highly symmetric P(6)O(18) cyclophosphoric ring and water molecules.

To understand the surprising behavior between the variations of the P'-P-P" angles and the correlated variations of the O'-P-O" ones, two lithium cyclohexaphosphate compounds Li6P6O18 x 3H2O and Li6P6O18 are studied by solid state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. The two compounds exhibit the same [P6O18]6- ring anions but with 3m or 1 internal symmetry, respectively. Such symmetries induce local distortions that are exhibited by NMR spectroscopy.
