With the global population projected to reach nine billion by 2050, the search for alternative protein sources has become critical. This study evaluated the digestibility of cricket protein powder compared with that of whey protein powder. Cricket protein powder had a slightly lower protein content but higher fat content than whey protein powder.

PURPOSE OF THE STUDY This study aimed to explore the effects of new therapeutic procedures in patients with shoulder impingement syndrome. The primary goal of the study was to confirm the hypothesis that the application of the platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in patients with shoulder impingement syndrome will have a positive effect on both the subjective and objective evaluation of their condition. The clinical condition before and after the treatment was evaluated.

So far, the propagation of hydraulic surge has been monitored by contact and thus potentially invasive methods.
Results: Here we present a non-invasive optical method, which allows simultaneous monitoring of micrometric shift of two opposite stem margins.
Purpose: The objective of this study was to evaluate knee rotational stability at least 2 years after anatomic single-bundle anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction (SB) and double-bundle ACL reconstruction (DB) in comparison with the contralateral healthy knee joint. The Cincinnati, Lysholm and IKDC scores were analysed too.
Methods: There were 40 patients in both groups, the mean follow-up was 27 months.
Magnetotactic bacteria are ubiquitous and can be found in both freshwater and marine environments. Due to intracellular chains of magnetic single domain particles, they behave like swimming compass needles. In external magnetic fields like the Earth's magnetic field, a torque is acting on the chain.

PURPOSE OF THE STUDY Growth factors produced by platelets enhance tissue healing. The aim of this study was to confirm or disprove the hypothesis that, in anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction, the application of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) into the tibial and femoral tunnels and in the graft enhances graft maturation and graft-bone interface healing and thus improves knee function at 3 and 12 months post-operatively in comparison with the control group. MATERIAL AND METHODS A total of 40 patient had the surgery; 20 underwent single-bundle hamstring reconstruction with PRP application (PRP group) and 20 had the same surgery without PRP addition (control group).

The sputtering rate corrected calibrations obtained at standard conditions for the 4 mm anode (700 V, 20 mA) in GD-OES are matrix independent for Mg and Al but not for Cu. The importance of a "blue shifted" line of oxygen at 130.

MATERIAL AND METHODS A total of 40 patients were evaluated; 20 had ACL reconstruction by the CASB technique using hamstrings and 20 underwent DB repair surgery. The average age was 31.

Purpose Of The Study: Repair techniques for rotator cuff injury are currently well advanced. However, the risk of re-rupture, particularly when severe damage to the tendons has been repaired, is still high. The causes of failure can be due to the extent of injury, a repair done on a highly degenerated tendon with diminished viability or ischaemic damage to the tendon tissue resulting from suture material.

In that view, a numerical simulation of a displacement of the speckle field as a consequence of general in-plane object's translation is presented. The translation components a x and a y representing the projections of a vector a of the object's displacement onto both x- and y-axes in the object plane (x, y) are evaluated separately by means of the extended one-dimensional speckle correlation method.

The paper presents an asymptotic expression of relative intensity distribution in a Fresnel diffraction pattern at an opaque straight strip illuminated with a spherical wave. The asymptotic expression is used in an analysis showing an area of validity where the asymptotic expression reduces to an asymptotic expression of relative intensity distribution in a Fresnel diffraction at a half plane. The area of validity is defined through width of the geometrical shadow in a Fresnel diffraction pattern at an opaque straight strip and distance of a point under study to the center of the Fresnel diffraction pattern.

Recent findings indicate that activation of the 5-HT(2A) receptor also leads to interesting physiological responses, possibly holding therapeutic value. Selective agonists are needed to study the full therapeutic potential of this receptor.

Numerical correlations of speckle patterns recorded periodically during motion of the object under investigation give information used to evaluate the object's in-plane velocity. The proposed optical setup uses a detection plane in the image field and enables one to detect the object's velocity within the interval (10-150) microm x s(-1).

Controlled translation of an object under investigation and numerical correlation of speckle patterns recorded during its motion give information used to evaluate the tilt of the object. The proposed optical setup uses a symmetrical arrangement of detection planes in the image field and enables one to detect the tilt of an object's surface within the interval (10 degrees-30 degrees).

This class of compounds proved to be potent in vitro dopamine D(2) receptor antagonists and in addition were highly active as serotonin reuptake inhibitors. Some key representatives showed potent pharmacological in vivo activities after oral dosing in both the antagonism of apomorphine-induced climbing and the potentiation of 5-HTP-induced behavior in mice.

As such, SLV310 could be useful in treating a broad range of symptoms in schizophrenia. This paper describes the structure-activity relationship in a series of compounds leading to SLV310 (6b, 2-[4-[4-(5-fluoro-1H-indol-3-yl)-3,6-dihydro-2H-pyridin-1-yl]-butyl]-phthalimide) together with pharmacological data showing the unique profile of this compound.

An exo-alpha-D-mannanase which was able to abolish the antigenicity of these polysaccharides completely was purified and characterized, and the activity was compared with that of an alpha-D-mannosidase. Analysis of the monomeric reaction products after enzymatic treatment revealed the presence of 2-O-methyl-D-mannose residues.

The protein A-IgG complex was covalently bound with dimethyl pimelimidate, which enabled the use of strong acidic buffers to release the tightly bound antigens from the column. Prior to pulsed-amperometric detection, an anion-micromembrane suppressor was used to raise the pH of the effluent to above 12 without dilution.

We found that the main metabolite of 3H-arachidonic acid (3H-AA), formed by freshly prepared upper epidermal layers (stratum granulosum and spinosum), upon RP-HPLC co-eluted with authentic 3H-12-HETE. A 3H-15-HETE co-eluting peak selectively occurred in chromatograms obtained from supernatants of fractions containing basal cells.
