Purpose: The objective of this study was to evaluate knee rotational stability at least 2 years after anatomic single-bundle anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction (SB) and double-bundle ACL reconstruction (DB) in comparison with the contralateral healthy knee joint. In that view, a numerical simulation of a displacement of the speckle field as a consequence of general in-plane object's translation is presented. The translation components a x and a y representing the projections of a vector a of the object's displacement onto both x- and y-axes in the object plane (x, y) are evaluated separately by means of the extended one-dimensional speckle correlation method.

Structure-activity relationships of phenylalkylamines as agonist ligands for 5-HT(2A) receptors.

We present a measurement of an object's in-plane velocity in one direction by the use of the speckle correlation method. Numerical correlations of speckle patterns recorded periodically during motion of the object under investigation give information used to evaluate the object's in-plane velocity. The proposed optical setup uses a detection plane in the image field and enables one to detect the object's velocity within the interval (10-150) microm x s(-1).

A series of novel bicyclic 1-heteroaryl-4-[omega-(1H-indol-3-yl)alkyl]piperazines was synthesized and evaluated on binding to dopamine D(2) receptors and serotonin reuptake sites. This class of compounds proved to be potent in vitro dopamine D(2) receptor antagonists and in addition were highly active as serotonin reuptake inhibitors. Some key representatives showed potent pharmacological in vivo activities after oral dosing in both the antagonism of apomorphine-induced climbing and the potentiation of 5-HTP-induced behavior in mice.

In this study, the structure of the immunodominant carbohydrate epitope of the extracellular polysaccharides from mold species belonging to the order Mucorales reactive with rabbit IgG antibodies was elucidated. An exo-alpha-D-mannanase which was able to abolish the antigenicity of these polysaccharides completely was purified and characterized, and the activity was compared with that of an alpha-D-mannosidase. Analysis of the monomeric reaction products after enzymatic treatment revealed the presence of 2-O-methyl-D-mannose residues.

Synthesis of 12- and/or 15-HETE by human epidermal cells was investigated after separating basal cells from suprabasal epidermal cell layers. We found that the main metabolite of 3H-arachidonic acid (3H-AA), formed by freshly prepared upper epidermal layers (stratum granulosum and spinosum), upon RP-HPLC co-eluted with authentic 3H-12-HETE. A 3H-15-HETE co-eluting peak selectively occurred in chromatograms obtained from supernatants of fractions containing basal cells.
