Radio-ulnar synostosis is a rare complication which develops following forearm trauma, the main manifestation being stiffness and leading to the loss of pronation and supination. For the patient, it is a very frustrating experience due to the impairment of the normal function of the forearm, whereas for the surgeon the treatment is difficult as, unfortunately, there is no consensus regarding the best way to approach it. Many surgical techniques and other kinds of adjuvant therapies have been developed in an effort to solve this disability.

Presentation Of Case: We present the case of a 72-years-old male patient presenting with a bulky hepatic tumor mass located in segment V and extending into segments IVb and VI with MRI features of atypical cholangiocarcinoma with a liver metastasis in segment III. In first surgical step, excision of the metastasis, and ligation of the right portal vein was done.
The prevalence of diabetic foot complications is continuously increasing as diabetes has become one of the most important "epidemics" of our time. The main objective of this study was to describe the appropriate surgical intervention for the complicated neuropathic diabetic foot; the secondary goal was to find the risk factors associated with minor/major amputation and good or adverse surgical outcomes. This is an observational, retrospective study conducted between 1 January 2018 and 31 December 2019, which included 251 patients from the General Surgery Department at the Dr I.

The members of this receptor family are TRKA, TRKB and TRKC and they are encoded by the genes , and . Alterations of genes can induce carcinogenesis both in neurogenic and non-neurogenic cells.

Accurate and prompt diagnosis, as well as proper care, is critical, as infection of a surgical wound, particularly in the case of arthroplasties or the use of orthopedic implants, can have a catastrophic effect in most cases, necessitating the removal of foreign material. Lyophilized bacteria samples were obtained from Cantacuzino National Institute of Research and Development for Microbiology and Immunology and investigated microcalorimetrically.

The present study aimed to compare patients treated with minimally invasive osteosynthesis through a minimum lateral approach and internal fixation with patients that were treated using internal fixation with an extended lateral side approach in cases of intra-articular calcaneal fractures with thalamic fracture. Patients were evaluated preoperatively and postoperatively by performing clinical and imagistic examinations, with radiography scans of the anterior-posterior calcaneal profile and computer tomography.

Introduction: Since December 2019, an emerging infectious viral disease triggered by SARS-CoV-2 has caused a global pandemic. Elderly people, being more fragile, are the most affected by the severity and lethality of this disease. The residential care facility for dependent elderly people (Ehpad) and the long-term care facilities at the Amiens University Hospital registered their first COVID-19 cases in February 2020, which lead to the opening of a dedicated COVID-19 unit and aspecific protocol for isolation.

However, the effect of bariatric surgery upon diabetic retinopathy is still a subject of debate as some studies show a positive effect while others raise concerns about potential early worsening effects. We performed a systematic review, on PubMed, Science Direct, and Web of Science databases regarding the onset and progression of diabetic retinopathy in obese T2DM patients who underwent weight-loss surgical procedures.

They originate from the interstitial cells of Cajal and are characterized by overexpression of the tyrosine kinase receptor, protein product of c-KIT gene (KIT). In this retrospective study, conducted over a period of 10 years, we retrieved from our database, a total number of 57 patients, admitted and operated in the surgical department of 'Sf.

Since December 2019, an emerging infectious viral disease implicating a coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 has caused a global pandemic. Elderly people, being more fragile, are the most affected by the severity and lethality of this disease. The NH and LTCU of the Amiens University Hospital registered their first Covid-19 cases in February 2020, which lead to the opening of a Covid-19 dedicated unit and of specific protocol for confinement.

At low concentrations, lead influences the synthesis of the heme in the sense of lowering it. Acute and chronic lead intoxication is extremely polymorphic in regards to its clinical manifestations, with digestive, hematological, cardiovascular, renal hepatic and neurological features.

The diagnosis of HCC can be difficult and often requires the use of more than one microscopic technique. A retrospective study was performed on a study batch of 42 cases that died of HCC due to metastasis or other secondary complications.

A study was performed on a batch of 23 cases who died of various cardiac complications secondary to scarring myocardial infarctions. The aim of the study was to assess the fibroblast involvement in cardiac repair under ischemic conditions after myocardial infarction.

The use of augmented reality-assisted indocyanine green (ICG) fluorescence has generated a myriad of intraoperative applications such as demonstration of key anatomical landmarks, sentinel lymph nodes, and real-time assessment of local blood flow. This paper presents a systematic review of the clinical evidence regarding the applications of ICG near-infrared (NIR) fluorescence in colorectal surgery.

We hypothesised this global pattern of non-fatal injury would be demonstrated in regard to bony hand and wrist trauma over the 27-year study period.
Methods: The Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study 2017 was used to estimate prevalence, age-standardised incidence and years lived with disability for hand trauma in 195 countries from 1990 to 2017.

Introduction: Neuroendocrine renal carcinoma represents less than 1% of all primary neoplasia of the kidney. Most frequently poorly differentiated carcinoma is diagnosed in advanced stages and they have an aggressive evolution and limited survival rate. Neuroendocrine carcinomas that arise from the renal pelvis are frequently associated with squamous cell carcinoma or adenocarcinoma.

In these cases, the treatment goal is mainly to provide feeding capacity as naturally as possible and to start the adjuvant oncological treatment. The use of endoscopic esophageal prostheses provides the patient with the possibility to be fed orally and with a good social integration, but due to the technical incapacity to cross the tumoral stenosis with the endoscope, or due to the endoscopist s concerns regarding the sensitive areas (poles of the esophagus), there are reluctances in respect to this method (on average 20%).

Half a century ago, two independent papers that described unexpected results of experiments on locomotion in insects and crayfish appeared almost simultaneously. Together these papers demonstrated that an animal's central nervous system (CNS) was organized to produce behaviorally important motor output without the need for constant sensory feedback. These results contradicted the established line of thought that was based on interpretations of reflexes and ablation experiments, and established that in these animals the CNS contained neural circuits that could produce complex, periodic, multisegmental patterns of activity.
