Non-pharmaceutical public health measures (PHMs) were central to pre-vaccination efforts to reduce Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) exposure risk; heterogeneity in adherence placed bounds on their potential effectiveness, and correlation in their adoption makes assessing the impact attributable to an individual PHM difficult. Physicians reported patient characteristics, treatment history, and reasons for treatment selection.
We propose a mutual information statistic to quantify the information encoded by a partition of the state space of a dynamical system. We measure the mutual information between each point's symbolic trajectory history under a coarse partition (one with few unique symbols) and its partition assignment under a fine partition (one with many unique symbols). When applied to a set of test cases, this statistic demonstrates predictable and consistent behavior.

Patients And Methods: All information was retrieved from medical records or collected from physicians and patients on the survey date (August-December 2018); no follow-up was conducted. Results were summarized descriptively for patients on GINA Step 4/5 therapies, who were pooled from a consecutive sample (comprising three or more consecutive patients with physician-diagnosed asthma from each participating physician) and an oversample (comprising the next two patients with physician-perceived severe asthma from each participating physician).

The spread of misinformation on social media is inextricably related to each user's forwarding habits. In this paper, given that users have heterogeneous forwarding probabilities to their neighbors with varied relationships when they receive misinformation, we present a novel ignorant-spreader-refractory (ISR) spreading model with heterogeneous spreading rates on activity-driven networks with various types of links that encode these differential relationships. Our goal was to compare the accuracy (sensitivity) of four-dimensional computed tomography (4DCT) and ultrasound (US) when predicting the side and quadrant of parathyroid lesions, confirmed with surgical location (from a single surgeon).
Methods: A retrospective review of 437 patients from a single surgeon undergoing parathyroidectomy from December 2013 to January 2020 at an academic medical center was performed.

We used a landscape genetics approach to combine robust demographic, behavioural and genetic datasets with spatially explicit simulations to evaluate the effects of anthropogenic barriers (dams, culverts) and natural landscape resistance (gradient, elevation) affecting dispersal behaviour, genetic connectivity and genetic structure in a resident population of Westslope Cutthroat Trout (Oncorhynchus clarkii lewisi). Analyses based on 10 years of sampling effort revealed a pattern of restricted dispersal, and population genetics identified discrete population clusters between distal tributaries and the mainstem stream and no structure within the mainstem stream.

Continuous-state network spreading models provide critical numerical and analytic insights into transmission processes in epidemiology, rumor propagation, knowledge dissemination, and many other areas. Most of these models reflect only local features such as adjacency, degree, and transitivity, so can exhibit substantial error in the presence of global correlations typical of empirical networks. Objectives: To present patient-reported data that were captured within a large, multinational, point-in-time survey of PAH-treating physicians and their patients to better understand the diagnostic journey.
Design: Cross-sectional survey conducted in five European countries (EU5), Japan and the USA.
The reservoir computing approach utilizes a time series of measurements as input to a high-dimensional dynamical system known as a reservoir. However, the approach relies on sampling a random matrix to define its underlying reservoir layer, which leads to numerous hyperparameters that need to be optimized. Here, we propose a nonlocally coupled pendulum model with higher-order interactions as a novel reservoir, which requires no random underlying matrices and fewer hyperparameters.
