The case report concerns a 67-year-old man who suffered an accident on a motorcycle, as a result of which he suffered a dented fracture of the right humeral head. After physical examination and imaging diagnostics, he was qualified for surgical treatment-arthrosurface of the patient's humeral head with the OVO surface replacement endoprosthesis. Right after the patient's surgical treatment, a period of 16-week rehabilitation was implemented, which, as a result, enabled the patient to achieve a full range of shoulder mobility, and the patient was able to return to all activities before the injury.

Synthetic Route to Conjugated Donor-Acceptor Polymer Brushes via Alternating Copolymerization of Bifunctional Monomers.

Alternating donor-acceptor conjugated polymers, widely investigated due to their applications in organic photovoltaics, are obtained mainly by cross-coupling reactions. Such a synthetic route exhibits limited efficiency and requires using, for example, toxic palladium catalysts. Furthermore, the coating process demands solubility of the macromolecules, provided by the introduction of alkyl side chains, which have an impact on the properties of the final material.

The prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors and cardiovascular disease among primary care patients in Poland: results from the LIPIDOGRAM2015 study.

Background And Aim: To estimate the prevalence of cardiovascular (CV) disease and CV risk factors among Polish patients.

Methods: A nationwide cross-sectional study, LIPIDOGRAM2015, was carried out in Poland in the 4th quarter of 2015 and 1st and 2nd quarters of 2016; 438 primary care physicians enrolled 13,724 adult patients that sought medical care in primary health care practices.

Results: Nearly 19% of men and approximately 12% of women had cardiovascular disease (CVD).

May Measurement Month 2018: an analysis of blood pressure screening campaign results from Poland.

Hypertension remains the most important cardiovascular risk factor in Poland. May Measurement Month is a global initiative organized by the International Society of Hypertension aimed at raising awareness of hypertension and the need for blood pressure (BP) screening and demonstrating the potential of the opportunistic BP measurements. An opportunistic cross-sectional survey of volunteers aged ≥18 was carried out in 146 sites in May 2018.

Quality Assessment of the Neural Algorithms on the Example of EIT-UST Hybrid Tomography.

The paper presents the results of research on the hybrid industrial tomograph electrical impedance tomography (EIT) and ultrasonic tomography (UST) (EIT-UST), operating on the basis of electrical and ultrasonic data. The emphasis of the research was placed on the algorithmic domain. However, it should be emphasized that all hardware components of the hybrid tomograph, including electronics, sensors and transducers, have been designed and mostly made in the Netrix S.

Design and rationale of a nationwide screening analysis from the LIPIDOGRAM2015 and LIPIDOGEN2015 studies.

Introduction: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a major cause of morbidity and mortality throughout the world. The LIPIDOGRAM2015 study was performed to estimate the prevalence of risk factors for atherosclerotic diseases as well as cardiovascular and related disorders in the primary care setting in Poland. The LIPIDOGEN2015 sub-study was designed to include a random cohort of patients in order to analyse parameters related to lipid metabolism, oxidative stress, inflammatory responses, autoimmune disorders, and gene variants that confer susceptibility to cardiometabolic and atherosclerotic diseases.

Increased activity of aspartate aminotransferase in an asymptomatic young woman - case report.

Unlabelled: Isolated macro-aspartate aminotransferase (macro-AST) in asymptomatic adults and children is a benign condition. In patients, however, macro- AST can be associated with neoplasms and autoimmunologic disorders, particularly with gastrointestinal diseases.

Case Report: We described a case of persistently elevated serum aspartate aminotransferase in an asymptomatic young woman who was correctly diagnosed with macro-AST after the elevated serum AST was found four years ago.

The model of professional satisfaction of nursing staff in Poland - brief communication.

The aim of this study was to create an empirical model that would help understand how to obtain the optimal level of professional satisfaction among Polish nurses. The study was performed using a standardized questionnaire among 1066 nurses. Descriptive and explanatory methods have been used in the statistical analysis of path-analytic approaches.

Abduction dislocation of the knee joint--a case study.

The paper presents a case of untypical, not included in existing classifications, knee joint dislocation in a young man. An MRI scan confirmed a rupture of both cruciate ligaments and damage to the ligamento-capsular complex on the medial side of the knee joint. Two weeks after injury, an arthroscopy was performed with joint lavage followed by repair of the damaged ligamento-capsular complex.

Use of a simulated gizzard to measure bioavailability of metals and other elements to waterfowl.

We used a simulated gizzard environment to examine the bioavailability of barium, cadmium, copper, lead and zinc to wild and sentinel mallards (Anas platyrhynchos) using a seasonally-flooded wetland. This impoundment was originally constructed as a containment area for dredged sediments which were contaminated through previous smelting operations. Extraction of elements from gizzard contents indicated that sentinel mallards experienced greater exposure to contaminants than their wild counterparts.

Effects of lead, iron, and bismuth alloy shot embedded in the breast muscles of game-farm mallards.

Effects of five lead (Pb), iron (Fe), or bismuth (Bi)/tin (Sn) alloy shot embedded in the breast muscles of game-farm mallards (Anas platyrhynchos) were studied from 28 March 1994 through 27 March 1995. We detected no differences in the mean survival times, mean hematocrits, or mean body weights among the three shot types. Connective tissue encapsulated Pb and Bi/Sn shot but only slight changes occurred in tissues surrounding the shot.

Balloon embolectomy catheter-induced arterial injury: a comparison of four catheters.

This study compared four brands of balloon embolectomy catheters with respect to their mechanical characteristics and the histologic responses they elicit. Early myointimal hyperplasia after balloon catheter embolectomy: effect of shear forces and multiple withdrawals.

Arterial stenosis occurring after balloon catheter embolectomy may be caused by myointimal hyperplasia (MIH). This study investigated the effects of shear force and repeated catheter withdrawals on the development of MIH after embolectomy. The procedures were performed in the common carotid and common femoral arteries of 18 anesthetized dogs.
