Seedling establishment is a critical phase in pasture management. Knowledge of the seedling development of new forages is necessary to develop management practices and recommend species mixtures for pasture seedings. We compared seedling growth and development of prairiegrass (Bromus willdenowii Kunth = B.

The purpose of this study was to determine the dietary practices, attitudes, and physiological status of freshman collegiate football players. Thirty-one freshman football players at a National Collegiate Athletic Association division I school completed a self-administered nutrition screening questionnaire designed to determine their dietary practices and attitudes. Fasting blood samples were collected and height and weight were measured.

A pilot study was conducted to determine if radiolabeled IL-8 would depict infection in humans.

Crystals of antithrombin were grown both on earth and in microgravity aboard US Space Shuttle Flight STS-67. The quality of crystals grown in both environments was highly variable and many could not be indexed. The microgravity crystals, however, generally diffracted better, as demonstrated by a novel procedure that estimates the resolution of the Bragg scatter from single diffraction images, without requiring knowledge of the cell dimensions of the crystal.

However, rates of immunisation among adolescents world-wide have often been inadequate. Australia's experience in this area is no exception, particularly in States where school-based delivery is not carried out.

In the first study, 1 male and 1 female pup/litter (n = 5 litters), were exposed ad libitum to 0, 825, or 2475 ppm lead acetate in the drinking water from gestational day 4 to euthanasia on day 55. Tibial strength was tested by 3-point bending and plasma levels of vitamin D metabolites were measured.

In this paper, we report on a new instrument to assess this: the Autism-Spectrum Quotient (AQ). Individuals score in the range 0-50.

External fixators were placed on the right tibiae of 30 male SD rats (20 CAMM, 10 Harlan) and mid-diaphyseal osteotomies were performed. Distraction was performed at 0.

The P50 potential was studied in normal male and female subjects of various ages including post-pubertal adolescents (12-19 yrs), young adults (24-39 yrs), middle-aged adults (40-55 yrs) and older adults (55-78 yrs). There were no statistically significant differences in the mean peak amplitude or mean peak latency of the P50 potential between males and females or between age groups.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFWe previously reported that the P1 or P50 midlatency evoked potential underwent decreased habituation or disinhibition in patients with Parkinson's Disease. This sleep state-dependent response appears to be generated by cholinergic elements of the reticular activating system. We attempted to determine if the decreased habituation or disinhibition of the P1 potential would be altered by bilateral pallidotomy.

Responses were studied after stimulation of the mesopontine cholinergic pedunculopontine nucleus in precollicular-postmammillary transected, paralyzed preparations. Recordings of neurographic activity in hindlimb flexor and extensor nerves served to detect changes in fictive locomotion and muscle tone induced by pedunculopontine nucleus stimulation or occurring spontaneously.

External fixators were placed on the right tibiae of 36 virus-free, 400-450 g male Sprague Dawley rats, and osteotomies (n = 33) were performed. Distraction was initiated the following morning (0 day latency) at 0.

The mechanism for the anti-addictive action of IBO is still unclear. IBO interactions with opioid, NMDA, nicotinic, adrenergic, and serotonergic receptor sites have been suggested.

This effect was blocked or reduced by pretreatment with the muscarinic receptor antagonist, scopolamine, injected into the PPN.
